Okay, I've noticed that every time when a review comes out saying a game is either horrible or awesome someone posts something saying "Oh, they review bad. Don't listen to them. Listen to me because I've played this game before, even though the game didn't even come out." So, tell me, Which goddamn reviewers should we freaking listen to? I wanna know which game reviewers do you completely ignore and which ones you blindly worship?

Or is it because you just listen to the reviews that satisfy what you want the game to live up to.

Or maybe because its an freaking exclusive that your freaking console will never see so it automatically sucks and the review is overrates it.

And tell me how do you tell if a review sucks or not? How does an opinion suck? Tell me that. And list which reviewers should we ****ing listen to and which should we not?

I generally read two or three reviews, and see an averaged game-rankings score. Game-rankings gives a fairly good indication of quality, and by reviewing several reviews, whether good or bad, you can generally get an idea of how the game works.

Yourself. That is the only one that you'll agree with 100% of the time.

Other than that, make your own call on whom you agree with most often. For me, that is Game Informer, but each person is different.

Here's a quick guide to getting through the wonderful world of game reviews!

  • Use multiple review sources. More opinions are better than one. Either find a couple of reviewers or sites that you generally trust and stick with them, or go broader with sites like Gamerankings.
  • Be critical of reviews. If you find a certain review is poorly written, has contradictions and/or faulty arguments, you may want to consider not taking that review (or all reviews by that author) into consideration.
  • Think for yourself. If a reviewer says a game is too much like it's predecessor, or uses aged mechanics, but you like those kinds of things, then those negatives don't apply to you as much.

This is the key, most people here talk badly about reviewers when they don't score or have the same likes about a game that they do.

If you want to follow reviews, just go by gamerankings and see the average. If you don't care about reviews, rent the damn game for 3 bucks.

You can't really listen to any reviews. They are fun to read and watch, but it is still too hard to judge a final decision about whether you will like a game or not based on other people's opinions. You know that stupid show Xplay? They gave Crisis Core a 2 outta 5 because Sessler HATES Final Fantasy games. It is the concensus from most reviews that the game is great. However, people who played the game are divided. So, you have one game site that hates the game...a consensus of most game sites that love the game...and the player reviews that are very divided. How the heck can you form a basis on that information? It is completely random and jumbled up. You can only go by how you personally feel about a game. So, I guess what I'm saying is...listen to no-one. When in doubt about a game, rent it and see if you like it or not.

The best review is to rent the game and form your own opinion.

Reviews are additional tools. You use them in conjunction with your own opinions to decide whether or not you want to buy it.

Personnaly I never really listen to a review unless its for a game I wasn't following in the first place. Like when i bought a PSP, GS review of Patapon made me buy it.

Listen to your heart. Or your gut.

Actually, don't listen to your gut - that's just gas.
