I haven't played Resident Evil 5 yet... But 4 was freaking awesome!

Also, just these two games. No 1, 2, 3, or any spin-offs, because those games are completely different. Just 4 or 5.

How long is 5, by the way? I heard it's shorter than 4? By how much?

Resident Evil 4 and for this reason : it actually scared the hell out of me pushing cupboards before doors and pushing away ladders in the town . It was one of the best gaming moments ever when Louis Sera yells "game time" in the dark baricaded house while the angry mob aproaches and the music catches the moment . It was both survival horror and action game . Resi 4 no survival horror ? You've never witnessed the chainsaw decapitation scene or the Jaws fish scene on the lake . The european town setting was incredible . Resident evil 4 was a masterpiece of a game and it destroyed everything the competition had when it came out ...on the dreaded gamecube ...scary console...that gamecube, just when you wanted to trow it out of the window, it released games like Metroid Prime, Zelda Wind Waker, Resident Evil remake and Resident Evil zero...and then of course resident Evil 4 ...I'm still waiting for one of those moments on the Wii, but I'm afraid I'll be waiting for a loooooong time...

Anyway, Resident Evil 5 is an incredible game too (graphics !!!!!Co-op!!!!!!!) but I liked resi 4 more ...maybe survival horror games cannot be played co-op...

I played the demo, and the only complaint I had were the controls (Dual Shock 3). Seriously, the GameCube controller felt so much better. It'd be even better to have the Wii Remote and Nunchuck. Other than that, though, it was fine. If you paused the game to go in your inventory, like last time, it would be very annoying online. I would hate if someone constantly did that, and I had to wait for them.

Even though i didn't finish RE5, i thought RE4 was alot better. RE5 was great fun for co op, but when you play alone its not really that fun. Basically i thought RE4 was alot better if you were playing single play for RE5, but RE4 was only a little better comparing to RE5 with co op.

Yeah RE5 had a terrible story. Boss battles weren't so great. I never felt "trapped" by enemies while playing. Earlier trailers showed much more zombies on screen at once. It was a good game but no where near as good as RE4.

They're both great games that I'm happy to own, but I like RE4 slightly better. RE4 actually had a creepy feel to it whereas RE5 was just straight up action. RE4 also was longer. I enjoy the co-op of RE5 because it keeps me coming back for more. I like jumping online and helping ppl get the infinite rocket launcher and also play split screen with my fiancee (even though the splitscreen looks awful).

Resident Evil 4 is a monumentally better game. Though, I can see they both went in different directions, Resident Evil 4 succeeds much more at what it tried to do.

RE4 pulled off an almost impossible feat; making a large porition of the game an ESCORT mission, yet you never notice it. Ashley never got in my way the entire game. The bosses were awesome, the settings were awesome, the Merchant was awesome, the design of the levels was awesome, the enemies were awesome, the quick time events worked, Leon was kick ass in number 4, the combinable treasures in RE4 provided more things for players to look for and rewarded the players who saved some of those gems, The melee attacks in RE4 were more awesome. Who doesn't like suplexing someone so their head explodes?

RE5 the areas felt cramped, the bosses were trash, Wesker being back was cool, but his horribly not fun boss battles just made me look at him with shame, the AI in RE5 is supposed to help you when all it does is hurt you and waste whatever ammo you give it and OMG that stupid AI doesn't even help you kill Irvine, WTF?! The quick time events later in the game do not work half the time, The treasure system was simpliied, the melee attack weren't as cool, I felt the story in RE5 did a horrible job of explaining itself.

I'll just stop there...

I didnt have the same kind of problems with RE5 that other people seemed to. I got on with Sheva, even in Proffessional mode, (she is WAY better than Ashley) I thought the story was typical Capcom fare, and loved it for it, I think the monster designs were awesome, I didnt even care about the whole cant-move-and-shoot-at-the-same-time thing, I really really loved the game. The only thing I missed were little things, small gripes, like the lack of a merchant, not being able to get action figures in a shooting gallery and having to spend points on them instead, not being able to combine treasures, the ridiculous inventory system and the clear lack of yellow herbs. Seriously, though, I would have put the game above RE4.

I say that, but after I platinum'd the game, I went back to play RE4, just to see. And one thing about RE4 1ups RE5 completely, and that is the setting, and the music. RE5 didnt cast you as an alone outsider nearly as well as RE4 did. The whole game is just so un-atmospheric, which is a shame given the setting - they could have done so much in Africa that they just didnt, and thats a shame. Plus, there is the whole racist thing, which you cant help but shake your head at.

RE4, FTW.

RE5 graphically looks amazing and probably has some of the best character models in a video game to date.

But as for an overall video game experience, RE4 has the edge, because it has more challenge and is longer.

WHAT? you liked Sheva more than Ashley? Why? i played the game on 360 so maybe there is a difference with the AI between the PS3 and 360 versions. Because Sheva was alright, but never really a help. Especially on the boss fights, I can't play RE5 by myself because of Sheva. Another thing, as I wasn't to clear in my post, Ddin't you feel the areas were just a lot more cramped? I always used the minimap in RE5 and te layout of a lot of the levels just was ugh. especially the areas where you'd have to collect like 3/4 plates/symbols and put them in a wall.

every boss in RE 5 seemed so scripted and most the time was just an on rail shoot the hell out of the big thing boss strategy. RE5 was fun, but the pacing was so inconsistent, and the story was incredibly predictable and forgettable. RE4 is a far better game than 5

Sheva might not have been much help, but she was a damn sight more helpful than Ashley. Plus I just liked having the character around more. I honestly never had a problem with her at all, not on the boss fights, and not on Pro mode. :D Im not sure if the areas are more cramped in RE5. Im playing through RE4 at the moment, and both games seem to stick to traditional Capcom linear design mode. I dont think thats necessarily a bad thing - I expected to have to do those silly fetch quests, easy puzzles and rotating random crap. Theyre in RE4 too, people seem to forget :P

i would agree with the most part.... though i initially hated the ai of sheva, after a while i figured out how to use it and seemed to be quite helpfull (like giving sheva the infinite ammo magnum and she will kill everything). But yeah, i was pumped for wesker, but RE5 seemed like they totally ruined the character with his boss fights and changing him from a mysterious villain to your typical maniac who wants to destroy the world

I hated both for this reason, they're not scary anymore and that's because:

-The mindless zombies are way scarier than the Las Plagas, I prefer my zombies to have severed limbs and visible bones and organs, and I don't want them to talk.

-Your not oblivious to whats happening anymore, instead of being in the middle of something you don't know about, you're an agent who is specialized in dealing with zombies and any other kind of monster.

-The moving away from survival to shooter, back in the day 3 zombies would be enough to screw you but now, when you see an army of zombies just go to the side of a the level and start picking them one by one.

-Indoor environment was way more intense than the outdoor environment, I still remember all the levels in 1 and 2 but 4 and 5 are forgettable.

-Monsters were a lot scarier, the hunter and the laker were faster and creepier than say the chainsaw guy, the hunter was able to cut your head with just a jump towards you while the stupid chainsaw guy needed almost 3 seconds to start cutting your head. The tyrants and nemesis are a different story.

-The music, who can forget the music that was playing in the police station, not some crappy drums or a supposedly action music.

-co-op... CO-OP ???

Well, if it's between 4 and 5, then ill go with 4...

Resident Evil 5 is a good game, but if you go into it expecting it to be equal to or greater than Resident Evil 4 you'll be severely disappointed just like I was.

Sucked? A bit harsh? The game had flaws, but it also did have a lot of awesome qualities, that you must have ignored.

I love Resident Evil threads so I figured I'd jump in. I've played all the RE games EXCEPT Code Veronica, which I'm playing right now and almost beat. Best RE with CG or frozen backgrounds? RE Remake Which is and well the only one with slightly moving frozen backgrounds? Code Veronica and yea it rocks Which is the best over the shoulder? Depends on what we are talking about RE4 tried to spook you, RE5 has the best graphics period RE4 has the best mood, RE4 actually had a better sound track RE5 had the better controls RE5 has the better menu setup chapter picking and co-op RE5 > RE4 Even if RE4 takes twice as long to beat.

I find it disgusting that they would give a game so dependent on an AI controlled computer and not give ANY way of controlling that AI or giving it commands other than this completely useless "Attack/Cover" option that I found did absolutely nothing. Still a really fun game, I gave it a B+, but that AI had me screaming at the screen at times because it was just so stupid and I had no way to control it. At least a simple "stop shooting" command would have been nice for certain boss fights where she'd burn through 30 rifle ammo for no reason when there is a turret right there.

Nothing new in the new one so if I have to choose one it would be RE4 since it had a big change and was a lot of fun. RE5 was great too but I played throught it a couple times then get tired of it.

Re5 is not a bad game by any means, It's great. Re4 beats it nonetheless, especially on the Wii.

Resident Evil 4 is way better, for one the Regenerators scared the s**t out of me. Hearing them laugh as they approach was THE scariest moment in gaming for me. RE4 also had a better story and setting. Its level design wasn't as cramp as RE5. Its bosses were original unlike RE5 in a sense that they all were fun to finish off. Fightin Wesker was seriously lame as he dodges every attack and couldn't shut up for more than 5 seconds, with the last fight being the worst. It seems that Capcom just copied most of RE4's bosses for its sequel and it just felt very generic. IMO its a good game but its nowhere the quality of RE4.

Both are awesome games, but I like RE5 slightly more, as I couldn't stand that girly man Leon.

Chris Redfield FTW!

Enjoyed both games, but prefare RE5 due to its co-op mode which makes it better.
