Which Game Has a Better Chance of Getting a 10

I'm not gonna choose I don't think GS is going to give any of these games a 10, they both will get 9.5 in my opinion.

But it seems IGN will give MGS4 a 10 with the preview they put, I read it and I can't believe they played the whole game.

Both have chances at it (I think very good chances) , but I think GTA IV at Gamespot has a better chance because of they way they generally look at both of the series. More people in their office will likely be pumped up for GTA , and only a few seem to be MGS fans. We are going to see some 10s this year imo , and people have to understand that it doesn't mean the games are perfect ;)

MGS4, as great as the franchise may be (I'm a MGS fan), it still remains as a niche-and-unique genre. Awarding a 10 is unlikely if the game doesn't have mainstream appeal.

GTA4 has a mainstream appeal, but it'll be difficult for it as well to score a 10, as I can see many problems that can arise with a game of this caliber (graphics, inconstistent framerates, etc.).

9.5 for both, the best possible chance for each of them. 10 is reserved for Starcraft 2 or something, games with little to no faults in any of its structure. When GTA4 and MGS4 take chances with the gameplay, it'll be hard to score a 10.

gta is such an overrated game, i doubt it will get a 10.

MGS4, has potential, but i doubt it will get over 9.5.

World in Conflict had nothing in "The Bad" so I guess the games with the most chance of getting nothing in "The Bad" would be Metal Gear Solid 4, being the last in the series, I know they're going to give their best to make it the bestStephenHu

If Vampire Rain and Hour of Victory can't achieve AAAA or at least GOTY when it's competition is monkey feces like Super Mario Galaxy and Mass Effect, then there's no way these games will.

It is very unlikely MGS4 will score better than GTA4. The last one got an 8.7 while all three GTAs got 9.6's.

Why would a constantly exciting game with the player always in the driver seat get topped by a game with a counter-intuitive controls that you're not even in control of half the time?

Ok...first off I love MGS. I have to say that before I say what is logically what will happen.

GTA4, new story, easy to pick up and play, very fun, huge dynamic city environs.

MGS4, continued convoluted although intriging storyline DOWNFALL, great detailed gameplay, great character building.

THE PROBLEM with MGS4 getting a ten or much less beating GTA4 is the story. Players who didn't play the previous MGS games have no clue what is going on. EVEN THE BIGGEST FANBOY CAN ADMIT THIS. I understand that they will likely give a text version of the past games like they did in MGS2, that still will not be enough.

I own all of the PSX and PS2 Metal Gear games and have a very good understanding about the Patriots/Philosophers up to what we know. I have repeatedly let friends borrow MGS2 and countless times they come back very confused. Kojima, great guy, but extremely confusing. Trying to make sense out of him is like making sense out of M. Night Shymalan's movies.

GTA won't score better because of MGS's story, it'll score better because it plays better. The game is fast-paced and exciting, MGS is excellent but its pace is like quicksand. It's one of those games that are greater than the sum of its parts.

GTA is far superior. The creators of it are far more concerned about the gameplay than Kojima is.

But MGS will be prettier for sure.

I think MGS4. Its been in development for a long time, looks fresh (not Snake himself, whos old...) and GTAIV looks like a shiny San Andreas, they may dock for that. Both are going to be fantastic though. 9s each for sure. If not 9.5 each.-shmelo-

GTAIV looks nothing like San Andreas. Totally different areas of the country (yes, I realize the cities are fake, but they emulate certain cities), totally different moods, totally different kind of story.

Also, history indicates that GTA will score better (though I could be wrong). As a series, it's always gotten a better critical response than the MGS series.

My prediction for both:

MGS4-9.0

GTA4-9.6

Neither - I'd say the highest both games will reach is about an 9.0
