i'd say gta4. theres still a lot of people playing today and its great fun yet i barely hear anyone talking about it. and when they do they just bash it.

San Andreas multiplayer. The best I've played. Playing with hundreds of people all over SA at the same time is a beatiful experience.
Thats because uT2004 has more gamemodes better maps and better everything else.UT3. There are so many great game modes and so many amazing maps. Plus, the gameplay is excellent, I have no idea why it isn't as popular as UT2004 was.

oh yea i loved GTA4 online, team death match and cops and crooks were my fav
running people over and doing drive bys on death match never gets old
I agree GTA4 is pretty good. The only problem is auto aim and the stupid matching system. There is no lobby and unless you create your own game you will just end up in matches with auto aim on or only RPGs. Just having a lobby system or a search option would have made the online legendary.i'd say gta4. theres still a lot of people playing today and its great fun yet i barely hear anyone talking about it. and when they do they just bash it.

Phantasy Star Online (all versions but mainly DC). I sometimes play on unofficial servers that are around today and the game is still amazing as it was all those years ago. I played this game for so long on the DC, from the start to the end of the official servers, Such amazing memories. I even met my ex-girlfriend on it.
There is no question about it, GTAIV, especially now seeing as the host basically can't be kicked because some ****heads don't like the way he wants his game.
It is just so random. We were playing a team deathmatch earlier today in ranked matches in party mode and the enemy team kept on finding abandoned buildings to stack up in, and we just got shotguns and assault rifles, covered all the entrances and exits and then shot the hell out of them. Also the cover system actually manages to take Gears cover system and make it better so you can pretty much take cover behind most objects and feel safe.
People complain about the lag but in all reality the netcode has to take pedestrians, a huge map, traffic and 16 players into consideration. It manages to do this, pull it off and actually have less lag than games like Rainbowsix Vegas and Gears of War in most games. Most of my games you don't even have to lead your shots up to medium range.
Also the game plays like an utterly random action movie, you could be low on health and being chased down back alleys and car parks and wind up having a stand off against the other team(s) in Burger Shot.
Because you mostly have the whole map to play with online there is no limit to how different a game will play every time. There are loads of nooks and crannies which keep the combat situations refreshing while not being unnatural (I.e. not providing hundreds of concrete blocks and stationary burnt out cars to take cover behind), and you don't need to worry about ballance because there is always another direction you can approach from, and many tactics to take into consideration.
My final point is that there are so many modes that you are sure to find some way to enjoy it online, and each is unique, Ranked Party Mode can be very challenging and/or competative with the right groups of people. If you aren't enjoying this game online it's because you aren't really trying to get into it.

They recently introduced the preferences to your phone system which will predetermin auto-aim/cops/friendly fire for games you will end up in. You have to change it though if you want to play free mode because that sucks without friendly fire.
Amen. This is exactly what I was about to say. I'm gonna say Final Fantasy XI as well. Not many people play it because it's too difficult for a lot of gamers, but it's highly addictive and a lot of fun once you get into the higher levels. :PPhantasy Star Online (all versions but mainly DC). Lost Planet. Awesome online imo, yet never talked about.-DrRobotnik-I agree, Lost Planet is great. Very difficult to find a game on the PC version, though :( The multiplayer is really fun, yet pretty much dead.

I agree. GTA4s online is just so completely random and chaotic, yet if youre playing with the right people its some of the most fun youll ever have online. I've been in high speed car chases with wither players in cars, a couple dudes in helecopters, an army of cops, just ripping through the city having shootouts in the theatre and burger shot, just random mischeif thats different every time you play
Halo 3.
It amazes me how many people go around bashing Halo 3 even though it's got more multiplayer features than basically every console shooter, and an incredibly large online community.
well thats because for one.....there are those who those "features" don't amaze them because alot of it has been there on PC. Then there is the fact that, unlike last gen(and this is coming from someone who considers Halo 3 the best online FPS MP not named Team Fortress 2 this gen) Halo doesn't dominate the competitive online mp space on consoles. COD 4 is alot of fun So is Resistance 2, Gears of War, Killzone 2, Battlefield Bad company, etc, etc etc, etc. Halo 3 is a blast, but considering it has all those AAA scores(mostly for its MP), A strong fan following, i would say Halo 3 doesn't exactly scream "underrated".Please Log In to post.
