Im not sure if this has happened to anyone else but theres been times where ive played a game and not really liked it. However during playthrough i can really appreciate what the dev tried to do with the game and although i didnt like it, liked the overall feel. Let me just clear up, im talking about the actual game so there cant be games you didnt like but understand why it had amazing sales for instance. Anyway, the immediate 3 that come to mind are:
GTA3 - I was pretty different from most people. Whilst everyone was jumping onto the GTA bandwagon with 3s release, i was getting off. Loved GTA1,2 and london but 3 just didnt click for me. But i really loved what they were trying to achieve, the world, the atmosphere and the tech at the time left me awe-inspiring. Still, i didnt like the game.
Dead Rising - I still think there are few games that are as technically impssive as DR. It literally blew my mind when i first hooked it up in 2006. Its funny too because it featured alot of things that i would have liked at the time (zombies, unlimited arsenal etc.)........but i absoloutely despise the game, really hate it. Again like GTA3, i cant exactly pin point why but i just dont like. But what Capcom did with this game is something i like and although i wont get the sequal, i hope the series keeps on going.
Super Mario Galaxy - I always got excited whenever they released media for SMG and watching gameplay movies/trailers, i couldnt help but feel amazed. I love the **** graphics, music, feel but when i got my hands on it...i was bored out of my mind. I would get 1-2 stars and then call it quits because it made me feel so bored. Strangely enough, i would watch my friend play it for a few hours and enjoy it but whenever the control touched my hand, i disliked it. Overall, i think Nintendo did a great job with it and can appreciate what they were trying to achieve
How about you guys? Remember it has to be a game you dont like.
