Well?

Fortunately I'm in the same boat as you. There are games I've liked significantly less than others but none I've outright regr-
Wait. No! Just as I was typing that I remembered Star Fox Zero... Star Fox Zero. Yeah, even though the control scheme was an interesting idea, it didn't have the interesting application I was hoping for. Though there was enjoyment to be had, it was mostly a bad time.
Off the top of my head, just The Witcher 3. I tried so hard to enjoy it, but after 20 hours I tapped out. Though I figured I might not enjoy it, because eww Witcher combat, so I bought it on one of my secondary Steam accounts in case a friend wanted to play it. One of them did and loved it, so I guess it's not a total waste... but then another friend gifted it to me on my main account lol.
Everything else has either been good, or it was so cheap that it didn't matter.
Battlefield 4, I bought the season pass at launch because it all I had for PS4's launch, Regret it because of the horrible server issues it suffered it's first year, I had horrible rubberbanding issues. Though it's actually a good game now but rarely find games for the DLC content I bought.
@jumpaction: Interesting as I have just recently purchased Star Fox Zero. I wasn't really planning on picking it up due to how it sounded that it had turned out but it was on sale for $20 and it was the last copy there so I figured why not. I haven't played it yet though but I probably won't regret having picked it up at that price.
The only ones I regret are the ones I bought on disk. I'm such a lazy gamers these dayzzz I more apt to play something from my HDD rather than to get up and put a disk in. lol :P
Metal Gear Solid 5 Phantom Pain.
Unfortunately this full Game wasn't even as great as It's Demo.(Ground Zeroes)
1.it had a lot of moment that was only be made to waste your time: unskippable Heli rides , Traveling the Empty world without any threat . exploring the world wasn't even Rewarding.(at least in GZ you can find chico's tapes or unlock a mission by exploring the map)
2.Getting S rank wasn't even tactical like GZ. in PP you can just complete the missions as fast as possible without any stealth and get an S ranking. it also doesn't help that in PP you can upgrade your powerups to make this work much easier. disarming claymores was also more tactical in GZ compare to PP.
3.the only good part of MGS v's story was GZ. PP's story was pretty awful.
4.and mission variety was much better in GZ compare to PP.
5.and GZ was the only MGS game without any stupid moments and the only one without that awful Cardboard box.
@Archangel3371: Oh no! :( I'm sorry! Don't let my opinion dampen yours. Play it for your own enjoyment. Don't listen to what anyone else (including me) thinks.
If it helps any, the boss fights are really fun in the game and have moments of not only genuine scale but danger too. It's got some neat agency in that regard where you're fighting something that's equally gigantic, cinematic and dangerous.
I am pleasesd that none of the games I purchased this generation I have to regret purchasing in the first place.
@jumpaction: Oh that's ok, I just thought that it was interesting that you would mention that game because I recently purchased it. I've already read plenty of reviews on the game to know what I'm getting into. It might have been something that I regretted if I bought it at full price but for $20 I figured that it's worth it just to at least check it out.
Mass Effect Andromeda, what a disappointment that was. Besides that a couple games I picked up on a sale, so not much lost.
@Archangel3371: Yes. :|
I also didn't spend 60 euro on the special edition. Only a crazy person would do that... *cough
Haha. All the same, please enjoy the game. Have fun. :)
Batman arkham knight
Watch dogs
Cod black ops 3(20 mins in the campaign and I was extremely bored)
Advanced warfare
Driveclub
The Black Ops 3- especially the campaign. But the multiplayer and zombies were also worse overall I thought.
Final Fantasy Type 0 HD
I'll say Batman Arkham Knight on PC at launch but other then that, that's the only game I regret buying at launch and the actual game wasn't even that good due to overusing Batmobile.
But everything else I buy this gen has met my expectations.
@jumpaction: Thanks, will do. If I go in expecting the absolute worst then maybe I'll enjoy the good aspects more.
None yet.
Ditto. I don't buy things I don't like.
With all the information available via reviews, previews, user feedback, alphas, betas, demos, and Youtube walkthroughs the onus is on the consumer/gamer.
No Man's Sky, Dragon Age: Inquisition and Star Fox Zero (please just patch in the option to do a more normal control scheme!!)
Sword Art Online: Lost Song. I love SAO but this game was so bland and repetitive that even being able to fly couldn't save it. I ordered it off Amazon and was super excited while waiting for it so that made it even worse smh
@LustForSoul: Was Mass Effect really that bad to you? So far I'm enjoying it.
The open world and boring characters just killed it for me. There's more reasons than that but you get the point. Hope you keep enjoying it, the combat is all that kept me going.
MGS5, they ruined MGS, shame on them. The Order, what a POS. Got Ryse for free, would be mad if I had paid something for it.
As much as I hate to admit it, Horizon Zero Dawn didn't blow me away, there's something about the gameplay that I don't like, haven't given up on it yet though, maybe I get back to it some day.
Edit: Oh and Watchdogs sucked, yeah.
@omnichris: I hear ya. Picked up FFXV used for around $25. Had I payed full price, and played right after it launched I'd be absolutely livid. Who designed the fricking UI??? Lol.
Also, Fallout 4, if I hadn't picked it up for 75% off. Really should have expected zero improvement/innovation from Bugthesda.
Dragon Ball: Xenoverse. It's ok, I guess, but Xenoverse 2 is basically the same thing but better, even if it still isn't great either. As much as I love DB, that's what I get for buying a game based on an anime though.
Most games I dont regret buying because if its a game I know I might not like I wait for them to go on sale especially single player games. But for me:
Witcher 3 - I have the exact same sentiments as Conan. I know the game is supposedly great but I play it for 10 minutes and the combination of terrible dialogue scenes (generic fantasy trope ramblings) mixed with wack combat and time sink inventory juggling makes me turn it off. Those are like the three things I hate the most in gaming.
Divinity Original Sin - The game has depth but I feel it has bad pacing and drags out for far too long in places. I dunno maybe it was me but I got to a point where the quests that I could do were way too high lvl so I got stuck in the game and couldnt level up. It was so tedious to get to that point I dont really feel like going back to find an alternative route. I also dont like turn-based combat much and its chocked full of inventory juggling for multiple characters (ugh) I think if I had this game when I was a middle school kid playing pnp D&D I would have been into it.
Kerbal Space Program - The console version doesnt have good docs or tutorials and its too complex of a game to just try and figure out. I can tell its a great game but having to spend more time reading and watching vids on how to do things rather than playing ruins it.
Watch Dogs - Game is just overall terrible. I fell for the next gen hype.
I regret buying Breath of the Wild and Persona 5, because it almost feels like I will never enjoy any other game again.
