tha last week i started thinking about buying a handheld, most because of the rpg and action adventure genre games that they have.

i would like to know in comparison to each other, graphics, how big is the game library of this genres, specially rpg since im a big fan of it, which version worth the price, what bad points have each handheld and how is the online experience.

if i remember more questions that i would take in mind, ill post them.

thanks a lot ppl for ypur replies and ill be glad if you guys and girls can give me that little push i need

happy gaming

Get a DS.

Mainly because the DS can play GBA games and the GBA is the best handheld platform ever and always will be.

Hold out for the DSi if GBA BC isn't important for you. If it is then go DS Lite. PSP offers some good games and there seems to be more of a push to PSP recently, but not enough to recommend buying one right now.

I've owned both and sold both (which I regret both now) lol. I say get a DSI unless your big into GBA games. If this is done right the DSI could be kickass, if the DS wasn't enough...;p

The most RPGs are on the DS...I would say the DS is getting close to the PS1 number of RPGs if not already going past it. Atlus alone has like 5 JRPG this year alone coming out.

The Ds had a larger library of games.. Action Adventure comes to mind would be the Zelda game and the Castlevania series.. RPGs.. There are too many to count....

If you like JRPGs, get a DS. Best platform for JRPGs this gen, period. In fact, the DS trounces the PSP in most genres. The graphics are much better on the PSP, though, if you care about that.

The PSP seems to be geared toward those looking for more experienced gamers which what you may know as the "hardcore gamer". A mix between both games targeted at the casual gamer and the "hardcore" gamer can be found in the library of the Nintendo DS.

Go for the DS, because the DS and GBA have RPG librarys that are second to none i'm serious, go pick up a DS lite, The World Ends With You, Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga and Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon as a start

The DS has a much wider selection of games, and more RPGs by far.

DS is probably the best current system available. Gameplay is amazing, and it's portable with a lot of battery life, so you can't really go wrong if you're looking to game.

I have two DS lites and a PSP. Personally I play the PSP quite a bit more. Infact I find the DS to feel rather dated in comparison. I will say that the PSP doesn't have the games selection of the DS though, but I'm not a big handheld gamer so the PSP has enough for me. So I guess I would say if you think you will be playing it all the time go with a DS, if you just use it for trips or when you can't console game go for PSP.

Well, the PSP is apparently more powerful than the PS2, so it can do stuff like this:

And this:

But that's the two best-looking games on the system so far, so don't expect that all the time.

I have owned bothbut I like shooters over rpg so I got a psp. I love it. Now, There are a lot of good rpgs out for the psp though.( never owned one though) If you are a huge fan of Online games defenetly get a psp. The ds is horrable when it comes to wifi. You will find that the ds has more of a selection but in my oppinion its not avery good one. There are quite a few 3D games for the wii and they have horrable graphics. To me it sounds like any of the systems would work for you

If you want lots of cartoonish 2D RPG, you go to the DS.

If you want few quality games (with almost PS2 graphics) like FF7: CC, GOW: CoO, MGS: Portable Ops and a few others, you go to the PSP.

Since I choose quality over quantity, I choose PSP. 8)

If your into RPGs, I think the DS is your best choice. Hell, there are like 4 or 5 quality RPGs for DS coming out this month.

is there any RPG's on the DS with a good story? I prefer the none-cartoony RPG's, however as long as the story is good I'm intersted. Can any of you mention some for me?

DS for sure... the only genre the PSP beats the DS in is sports and shooters.

DS is superior for Action, Adventure, RPG, Strategy, Platformer, and other crazy niche titles like Henry Hatsworth!!! :D

Racers and fighters as well. It's pretty bizarre that the best fighters on DS are Bleach games. There's not even any good ports.

The World Ends With You story is quite alsome. @topic I'm a proud owner of both but if you already get a ps2 and/or ps3 you won't find much fun in psp, but still great.

DS all day long. I sold my PSP, and I dont regret it. I dont own a DS but I'm pondering the new DSi in black =] .....the games on that handheld are fantastic.

  1. GTA: Chinatown Wars
  2. New Super Mario Bros.
  3. Yoshi's Island
  4. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
  5. Metroid Prime: Hunters
  6. Trauma Center
  7. Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
  8. Mario Kart DS
  9. Advance Wars: Dual Strike
  10. Elite Beat Agents
  11. Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
  12. Meteos
  13. Resident Evil: Deadly Silence
  14. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
  15. Kirby: Canvas Curse

Thats a pretty sick library right there.

Action adventure and RPG are a lot stronger on DS. For example, there's 3 Castlevania games, The World Ends With You, plenty of Final Fantasy games, Devil Survivor coming soon, Resident Evil, Disgaea, to name a few.
