Your kidding right!Simple question: Which platform's sales are more based on marketing rather than game quality, reputation and community promotion?

I would think anybody that has a basic cable package and internet would know that consoles would be the answer. I like your choice of wording though making this a comBAITable thread.
Quality is ones own opinion anyways.
What an innocent, genuine question! DarthBilf
Well, I haven't really seen it brought up on here. It's a telling difference between the two that illustrates why gaming is on its current trajectory.
Consoles are where the sales are because that's where the marketing is. Game quality is more and more taking a backseat to marketing and marketability. Granted, because of techonology improvements we arguably have better games today than we did 10 years ago, but it could conceivably be much better.
That's easy consoles, no one cares about gaming on PC's, look at E3 everyone goes to and watches E3 to find out what Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft are doing with there current or next gen consoles. Sorry i know there are PC gamers here, and they are a loyal bunch, but they don't number even 1/4 of the amount of gamers that game on consoles, and that is not only due to marketing, but also the lower cost hardware of consoles over PC's. Plus most people prefer the control scheme of a controller as opposed to the keyboard / mouse combo, and not to mention it's just easier to hook up and play a console on a big screen HD TV than it is a PC. So whether PC boys like it or not console gaming will always be more popular than PC gaming.Simple question: Which platform's sales are more based on marketing rather than game quality, reputation and community promotion?

PC gaming is just not up to console gaming and never will be but PC fanboys enjoy your mouse and keyboard! haha lolThat's easy consoles, no one cares about gaming on PC's, look at E3 everyone goes to and watches E3 to find out what Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft are doing with there current or next gen consoles. Ease of use is something that console makers strive for in order to have greater mass appeal, and obviously setting price points is huge part of marketing.
I would argue that in this regard the console makers are largely playing on technical ignorance about hardware and software among the general public. Most people simply aren't aware of how to build a custom PC or what the system requirements for most games are. They also don't take the time to research how much hardware and games cost. Thus the easy choice (consoles) is extremely appealing.
Console makers are really only in competition with each other as to who can make the cheapest and most idiot-proof gaming machine.
lol iv never seen a more full proof way to troll , literally props to you TC!TH1Sx1SxSPARTA
how is it trolling when everyone seems to agree? besides, this isn't an opinion question, there are sucessful PC games that flourish through word-of-mouth.
even if the consoles have a minecraft clone, you guys have never had the kind of phenomena that surrounded that game in terms of how it got big.
