Man there all are so good....But I am going to say SMB2

I know it odd but I have a lot of good memories playing that game.

HarlockJC and PopeReal, I'm surprised that you two would vote for that game. I read so much bashing of Super Mario 2 because it was different from the other Mario games I sort of thought I was the only that liked it. I left it out because you can only fit 5 options on Gamespot polls so I wanted to have one game for each Nintendo system.

Super Mario 2 should not count, it isn't actually a mario game, the real SM 2 is the lost worlds...

Super Mario Bros should be up there besides sunshine but the best is either lost worlds or mario 64

I know that SMB2 is not a real sequel, but that does not keep it from being one of the best Marios. There was just so much in that game the back ground characters had so much appeal. Before SMB2 Luigi was just like Mario without his own image. IMO we have SMB2 to thank for future games that had Peach and Toad has playable characters like Mario Kart and more. No other one Mario game really gave you a real for other characters in the Mario Universe than SMB2. Which is kinda sad if you think about it.

The level design were great for a 2d game back in the NES days and is still really good compared to 2D games out today. If you look at other 2D games there is not has much variety in level has there was in SMB2.

I think he means the main mario platformers, not the sport/party games

Its a really tough decision but for me its SMB3>SMG>SMW

I haven't played Mario Galaxy, so I couldn't vote for that. The order of the games that I have played would be

SMB3> SMW>M64 >SMB >SMW2>SMB2> SMS

They're all great games though.

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

SMB3...I think i played that game for 2 years, beat it numurous times, and still get the urge to hook up my NES and play it.

SMW is number 2 for me then all the rest are tied for third...except 2 since i never played it.Haven't played Galaxy yet, andIactually enjoyed SMS.

Funny that for a game to be rewarded GOTY for 2007, more people here actually favor the classics over it.

Super Mario 3 and Super Mario World are far more worthy GOTY games than Super Mario Galaxy would ever be. This poll was proof of that.
