Well isn't the 3DS just a DS with 3D effects? I liked the DSi, but I don't need another one. the NGP is the most definitive console the universe has ever seen.

on one of the other forums there is a vote of which is better 3ds or psp ngp and the psp ngp is winning with 54 percent of the vot though there is only 439 votes when i last looked. i haven;t tried either of them but im pulling more towards the psp nga because its seems like a new console for sony and looks better to me where as the 3ds is more of an update
NGP has the better tech but that just alone doesn't mean jack squat. It all comes down to the support and games. So far we have seen some amazing games for the 3DS. Even though the launch lineup for the 3DS isn't spectacular, BUT (that's a big but) the launch window of the 3DS is amazing, a lot of good games are coming out. As for NGP, there isn't any games announced for it. 3DS is a Nintendo HH and Ninty always delivers in the gaming department and so did 3rd party with the DS and so far it's looking very good for the 3DS.
Well seeing as though I have yet to play either console (and neither have any of you!) so I cannot come to an accurate and honest conclusion...wait a second, this is SW.
Pfft, the SONY NGP baby ! This thing looks to be a monster hardware wise. As long as SONY uses their brains this time and releases it at a reasonable price they have something really good going for them.
Of course, both of these systems need to bring use the games. Looks like they both will be doing this as well.
But for me, SONY's NGP is the one.
There aren't any good games announced for NGP because it is almost 1-year away. We only know the 3DS launch games because it comes out very soon.
The list of developers for the NGP was very extensive.
One thing the NGP needs is a reasonable price and a strong support of games. We currently have a list of all devs who support the NGP but we don't have any game franchises except Metal Gear Solid and Uncharted announced for it.
The NGP is expected to be at least $300 and development cost for NGP games are going to skyrocket, if we look at how development cost rose for the 3DS and compare it to a much more powerful system. And we all know how the many Japanese developers on that list are struggling to develop profitable games on powerful platforms.
I see alot of potential in the NGP. More so than its predecessor, the PSP.
And the amount of devs jumping on the NGP bandwagon is amazing. Now that there's a second analog stick, something that lacked in the PSP and threw me off, I'm even more drawn towards the NGP alot more than the 3DS.
Both? Definitive is a stupid word to use when comparing consoles. We will need to see more games from the NGP and I want a hands on with both and such. Honestly I am a bit more excited for the NGP right now, but I am definitely getting a 3DS. I am strongly considering buying an NGP, but I need more info on it.
To be fair we have gotten a list of supporting developers and franchises coming to the 3DS a few days after E3 (which is much larger now), and the 3DS was to come out 8 months later. There aren't any good games announced for NGP because it is almost 1-year away. We only know the 3DS launch games because it comes out very soon.

Like was pointed out several times already in this post its kinda hard to say seeing as nobody has played either let alone both of them to compare. However if sony actually releases strong titles for the ngp which were pretty rare for the psp starting out then id say ngp however if they dont and nintendo keeps expanding their game catalogue for the 3DS then it will be better becuase there will be a greater variety of games and better quality
In general Sony needs to treat this like a real console which i dont think they really did with the PSP to really win me over and nintendo needs to release more games aimed at a older generation and more dedicated in my opinion they got the kids / casual gamer category all figured out now make more games for hardcore gamers.
i don't play on handhelds, but if i'd have to choose, i'd get NGP over anything else anyday. 3D alone is a feature that turns me against 3DS, and that seems to be the only thing it's even offering.
I see lots of developers losing lots of money on the NGP. Development costs are going to be too expensive. Handheld games on the NGP are probably going to cost between $50-60. Developers are going to need to see a ton of copies to make their investment back.
For this reason, I don't expect too many developers to ever use the full potential of the NGP. I would big-budget 1st party titles from Sony, lots of PS3 ports, and some minimally upgraded 3DS games.
Many of the niche games that were on the PSP are going to much harder to justify.
!!!THE NGP IS POINTLESS!!!
There i said it. The type of games that require lots of gpu/cpu power seem ignored on portables and compared to the feature-rich 3DS(that in fairness is quite powerfull aswell) the 'NGP' is already looking isolated in no-mans land. I respect Sony for sticking to their stragegy of most powerfull but i fear it is not that important to most people and i do include hardcore gamers too. I mean the PS3 is the most powerfull console yet you don't see Xbox 360 owners crying about it or indeed Wii owners for that matter. With the portable device market at saturation point with IPhone etc joining in the fight a portable needs something different to be noticed and then bought like for example glasses free 3D!

i don't see a single interesting feature in 3DS, sorry. i'm seeing lot more potential in NGP.
why did gamers buy their PS3s or XBOXs in the first place, and didn't get them selves a feature-rich Wii instead? cos it's technically outdated.
NGP is more expensive to make, and it out specs the 3ds. so its of course it will be more expensive. One thing the NGP needs is a reasonable price and a strong support of games. Right now? 3DS simply looks much more appealing, if only for the games.
NGP feels like it's going to go through what the PSP went through.
Too many unwarranted features, not enough worthwhile games.
The NGP has much more potential than the 3DS in terms of making great games. While the 3DS has only one sliding pad and a touch screen the NGP has 2 analogs, a touch screen and touch pad, with the gyroscope (I don't know if the 3DS has this or not). And to all of the people saying its not portable or cant be carried around, you must feel terrible for the poor suckers that have to carry around their laptop.
Another thing people keep saying there wont be any games and that all the games will just be ps3 ports (at least they aren't N64 ports) the system will get a lot of support and many great new games because of its hardware making it easy to develop for. And im not trying to sound like a Sony fanboy, im still going to buy the 3DS. But as of now the NGP in my opinion just has much more potential for greater games because of its controls and hardware.
I'll let the games on each system do the talking. And since neither are released yet, how can we possibly know.
Right now EA is not on the list of 3rd parties supporting the NGP. When Kotaku asked if they were supporting the system, they didn't just say "yes" like you would expect.
"That's why it seems curious that while rival Activision got time up on the stage during the early morning press conference in Tokyo, Electronic Arts didn't even get a mention. Also curious: EA not simply confirming their support of the device when we asked." From Kotakuhttp://kotaku.com/5745041/is-electronic-arts-really-not-making-games-for-the-next-psp
If EA dont support the NGP then Sony have a problem. A Dreamcast-esque problem.
