Why wouldn't the market be able to support 3 consoles if the console market is getting bigger?
None of them, really. They all have a good foothold in the market.
Sony had two fantastic gens already and are at a much better place now than they were at the start of this gen.
MS Had a below average first gen with the Xbox, but they learned alot of lessons and are doing fantastic this gen (lets just hope they carry all those lessons forward to next gen and bring the newer "hardware reliability" lesson with them also)
Nintendo are stronger than ever after fantastic success with the Wii and DS.
I really dont see any of them pulling out of the industry at this point or in the near future.
Definitely not Nintendo. Not Microsoft, & I highly doubt anything will happen to Sony. I don't think their losing money on their hardware anymore. Basically, their not going anywhere.
If any one of them would fall it would be Nintendo 1st. The reason being is because they don't have anything else to fall back on if something were to go bad for them. Nintendo was real close to falling after the GC, but the Wii seriously saved them they put all their money on it praying it would work and it did, but you can only play that game for so long. Sony has the electronics department on lock and MS has the software department on lock, Nintendo has nothing but what they make games. The same thing happened to Sega and then they ended up leaving the console business and now just make games for other systems.
All four systems - computers, Wii, PS3, and 360 are doing well and appear to be on the road to success. It is unclear where you came up with this notion:lol:It is unclear if the market will be able to handle 3 console manufacturers in the upcoming years. Which of the 3 is most likely to fall?

Nintendo would be missed the least as console producers, as long as they kept their handhelds going. But they're the least likely to drop out.tomarlyn
Missed the least by whom? They have the largest number of console sold this gen.

People that take gaming seriously as a hobby. Wii has critically and categorically been the worst provider of video game entertainment this generation, and has been Ninty's worst effort on the console scene. A lot of people that snapped one up for Wii Sports and Wii Fit probably didn't even know it was a Nintendo console. My extended family, friends and colleagues certainly didn't until I told them. Its no big secret Nintendo wanted a different image at the start of this gen.[QUOTE="jimkabrhel"]

Assuming that everyone who "takes gaming seriously" ignores the Wii, is just absurd.

I guess tomarlyn means that Nintendo is going to be dropped by his family and friends but that is probably not going to be ruin the company. they have been around awhile and weather some tough times and may just last out losing his business:wink:[QUOTE="jimkabrhel"]

None of them are going anywhere but I would love to see NIntendo develop for PlayStation consoles in the future.

Yeah he doesn't know what he's talking about.
Nintendo was real close to falling after the GCItsBriskBaby
because they never made money off the GBA right:roll:
and actuall, nintendo made as much money last gen than sony did.
Like most other replys I think "none" atleast not due to marketshare...
They seem to be pretty strong all 3, with the 360 and PS3 fanboys batteling over which is thebetter one, I think that atleast next gen, those fanboys will atleast keep both next iterations of both companys consoles alive through the beginning 12 months (which also is the hardest, I think).
Nintendo I REALLY doubt will fall, the grandfarther of modern consoles, seems to be doing allright ^^ heck they can sit out a gen for all they cared with the money the Wii and DS are raking in.
The market is bigger, and more people are buying more then 1 console this gen. So I doubt We would see any of the 3 fall, Even if a 4th console manu. came in, it might be possible for that manufactorer to stay in buisness aswell.
Gaming is so big now, so many people that are potential buyers, that it might even support a 4th (altho I do doubt it would happen).

Nintendo made more money than Sony last generation I believe.

That would never happen. Nintendo execs are on the record stating that if Nintendo didn't make games for their own systems, then they would just close up shop and not make games any longer. I would rather see Nintendo close shop than make games for another company's system.

They didn't get that many users but Nintendo still profited from the GCN.[QUOTE="Hexagon_777"]None of them are going anywhere but I would love to see NIntendo develop for PlayStation consoles in the future.dkrustyklownThat would never happen. I know that but would they really let all of their franchises just die? Hopefully not. With the hardware out of the way, they can focus even more resources on their software and perhaps release some of their other franchises.
They all sold over 30 mill consoles so they are not going to fail and have not failed, and sony is catching up to MS fairly quickly, i predict nintendo to remain in 1st place, ps3 to be in 2nd and MS to be in 3rd when its all said and done for this gen.CraiGdOwnsas far as the systems go Windows games are a solid first followed by Nintendo with Sony and Microsoft in a tough battle for the other spot. Since Microsoft makes windows and and the 360 they are in a very good situation:wink:
If any of them Sony.
Why? The way that they're selling consoles now and the way they make them is most likely going to put them into debt.
and for people that will/did say Nintendo need to think of their sales of the DS and Wii. They abviously have made a bundle with the Wii and DS so there's no doubt that they won't drop out of the race.
All of them = PC winsDogswithgunsThis isn't asking what you like best, it's which will fall. And the only correct answer is none for a long time. They'll all fall eventually. Microsoft will never fail as a whole company but for gaming they may. Of course all companies will eventually fall.
The way I see it, Microsoft has the least reason to be invested in the console race - so to speak. For Nintendo, creating entertainment products and video games is their specialty. Sony is an entertainment giant, and consoles are the means through which they promote new products and developments, such as 3DTVs and Blu-Ray. But what of Microsoft? They are building an identify for themselves in the console world, sure, but they don't have anywhere near the number of first and second party studios as Sony does. They don't really use consoles to promote their other divisions. They don't have a handheld system, and they aren't based in/don't compete well in Japan, a region where you need to have a console or handheld to break into the gaming market.
I don't think any will fall, but if one of them were to someday pull out, I think it would be Microsoft.

Actually for Sony we see they've been crushed in the music department, and the PSP is getting slaughtered by the iPhone actually, so the future PSP will probably have the same fate, and Samsung, and Panasonic are overtaking Sony in tvs, and other departments, but that's because they don't charge a huge premium on their products like Sony does. Many electronics companies are chipping away at Sony.
Nintendo won't be dropping out. They've been the software selling kings since the NES days, and they've gotten like 10x the amount of sales this gen as normal in the software department, so no flipping way will they fail. They've proven for 25 years that they are the best at developing, and selling software. Also, they sell all hardware at a profit as well.
I could imagine Sony getting to a point where they'd drop out even if they aren't in the hole as a company. Just the fact that it bleeds money could be reason enough to drop out.
They have learned from their mistakes, one would think. They made advertisements from creepy babies to funny Kevin Butler. And Sony is also making a profit. If any of them Sony.

THIS is the correct answer. And seriously TC, from what corner of your fantasy perception of the world did you pull this "projection" from?
None of them. What a silly question. I really think atleast Sony needs Microsoft kinda like Batman needs Joker. or how Holmes needs Moriarty. You need a good nemesis or rival to really improve and be better. So I really cant see either or those two leaving being benefical to anything. and Nintendo pretty much means Videogames, maybe not as much last gen or this gen, but I still think there important in their own way.

I would love to see where you get your figures.
Sony is is leading the world in the internet music.
you disagree? I can make that claim as easily and just as it is just as valid as your claim of them being crushed so long as neither of us provides anything other than opinion.
10x sales? i have to disagree with that claim. and also that Nintendo is the software king.
I wonder where you got the idea Sony was in the hole as a company?
and Sony bleeding money has become an annoying SW meme for the lack of evidence to back up the claim that Sony is not doing well.
Some departments do better than others but overall they are doing well or corporate heads would roll:wink:
Of course what nobody seems to want to mention in System Wars is that the undisputed king of systems is Windows.
The biggest list of high rated games and by far the most exclusives belong to the PC.
YOU do not believe me? I have something rare for System Wars.....Proof of the PC dominance.....Gamespot official scores
