I'm finally getting my PS3 tomorrow, so I would be able to show my dad what can the 42 in. plasma screen do. So I bought:

Metal Gear Solid 4

Assassin's Creed

Grand Theft Auto 4

So which of these do you think has an impressive intro movie and a great start? Thanks in advance! :P

If your dad doesn't mind violence and cursing, then pick GTA IV. But if you'd like it to remain more on the peaceful side, go with MGS4.

mgs4 has a great intro should take about 20 minutes and then 1 minute of gameplay and then another 5 minute cutscene

Metal Gear Solid 4

Then

GTA 4

Then Assassins Creed

But honestly both GTA 4 and MGS 4 are fantastic games.

I know the GTA 4 haters will keep it up and call the game trash

and I know that certain posters will make MGS 4 out to be average or something....

Both games are fantastic.....but MGS 4 in terms of visuals, sounds, and movie like feel is probably going to impress somebody who just wants to see a game and not play it.....GTA 4 isn't exactly a stunner to be honest.

ALso since you said you wanted something movie like then you want MGS4. I hear it is the best interactive movie out there.

Assassins creed will not impress your dad. If you want to impress him give him Uncharted or Heavenly Sword. Rent them though. Just rent them if you really want to show off your systems power. Both of those games are beautiful. GTA4 will not impress you dad especially on a graphical standpoint. I haven't played MGS4 but I doubt he is going to watch a 20 minute intro. Uncharted and Heavenly sword are both games that throw you right into the action and keep on going. They are short though thats why rent them they are full of action. Wait on uncharted though so you can get those trophies.

If you want to impress him, don't forget the hdmi cables, and buy a game that was meant for the eye candy, like grandturismo 5 prologue, or heavenly sword

it depends on what type of dad he is, if hes patient and enjoys movies that are ridiculously out there then mgs4, if hes a little crazier and just wants to have some good old fun then gta4, if hes somewhere in the middle then assassins creed

If your dad is not a gamer or already into MGS don't get him MGS4. There's a ****load of cutscenes and dialogue and he will be lost. Despite what a lot of fanboys might tell you its not a game that will appeal to many people.

GTA4 would be good choice IMO since its easy to get into and mess around.

I've never heard an MGS fan EVER say the series has mass appeal.

I think Assasins Creed would be more impressive because of all the characters on screen at once ( Heavenly Sword has a lot too but it doesn't look as good graphicly). But MGS 4 would easily be the most impressive.

Is this a joke? COD4 is so linear and there is no destruction in the environments at all and it doesn't even have the best graphics so how is that impressive? Metal Gear Solid 4 has better visuals and is somewhat less linear then COD 4.

No damage modeling is the only bad thing but hopefully the real GT 5 will change that.

Negative. It looked funky when I first played it, but I had to mess around with the settings. Boy, it's a beaut.

MGSIV. GTA IV is only impressive in terms of scope. MGSIV has (from what I hear) a great storyline, cinematic cutscenes, as well as graphics to boot.
