FO3 is only 8.5 on the PS3 and thats because of performance issues/bugs so its not really a fair comparison.
Strictly choosing between the 2 titles tho, I much prefered FO3. Thats not to say i disliked RE5, quite the contrary actually. I just really really enjoyed FO3.
Fallout 3 or Resident Evil 5. Its very hard to pick between them, they were both great, but fallout 3 might have been the best fallout game made and RE5 was not the best RE ever made.YankeesNYC4life
i am unbiased when i say his since i got 1000/1000 and 1550/ 1550 on both those game on pc. resident evil 5 is so much better.
i dont like fallout 3, the graphics are not good(yes im talking about the pc version) i did not enjoy it , i think it is overhyped.
resident evil 5 on the other hand looks OUTSTANDINg when maxed out. it is a truely amazing looking game on the pc. gameplay wise it is ok fun , resident evil 4 was better tho.
my vote goes to resident evil 5.
I really didn't like RE5. The bosses were unintimidating, it wasn't scary, and your AI partner is a dumbass you cant get rid of. However, I'm a fallout 3 lover. I've played the f*** out of that game and still play it occasionally just to murder marauders. The only other RPGgames i like more are the Fable series!
RE5 is really fun if, and only if, you have a friend to play with. Mercenaries especially was very fun.
I'm not sure an 8.5 is a reasonable score for that game, but maybe the reviewer was a loner with no friends?

I'm looking in to picking this game up cheap, so is the 360 version significantly better, or is the difference practically non-existant? I want to buy it for PS3 but I don't want to feel like I'm missing a significantly better experience.
Well, I played Fallout 3 on PC and RE5 on 360, so the comparison isn't fair at al. But Fallout 3 is a much better game with a massive game world. RE5 had an awful story but very solid co-op. If I had to rate them on single player only, I'd have to knock RE5 down to about 7.5 or 7.

i bought it on ps3 and it was one of my favorite games this gen, there have been numerous patches to fix the bugs. GET IT on whatever system you have its a awesome game.[QUOTE="RandomWinner"][QUOTE="Inger1"]

Have to go with RE5, had a blast with co-op and loved trying to get everything i could in that game.
Lost Odyssey tooI would say Alan Wake deserves better than 8.5 but you didn't list that one!

Stalker: Shadow of Chernoybl is the best 8.5 game. :)
This is the only correct answer!;) Out of those,Fallout 3. New Super Mario Bros Wii is better :P And so it begins again.I did't really enjoy either of those games. I'll go with with Resident Evil 5 though because it was at least decent enough for me to be even bothered to finish it.
Fallout 3 is the better game and the DLC is actually better than the game itself you cant go wrong with that purchase unless you just dont like RPG/FPS combos.
Personally I didn't like the robotic animations of the characters, the dull expressions and the fact that half of them shared the same voice actors. It didn't make the game bad but it really took me out of the experience. I thought the setting was dull too, a desolate waste land, lifeless. I'm sure it's what the developer went for but I didn't find it very interesting or engaging. I don't think the game was bad but it wasn't my cup of tea. It may sound a bit superficial since all my gripes with the game were with the presentation but I was digging the world and the characters that inhabited it. The vats was kinda cool but that alone wasn't enough to compel to keep playing and that was the only stand out to me for the gameplay. I can see why people like it thoughFallout 3 is the better game and the DLC is actually better than the game itself you cant go wrong with that purchase unless you just dont like RPG/FPS combos.

Id rather play RE5. From what ive seen, it looks really awesome at what it does.
I was going to make a thread on the PS3 board but ill just ask it here.
Ive been looking for RE5 gold edition for a while and its now insanely expensive. So ive decided to go with RE5 standard and just download the extra content from PSN. Looking at it i got a little confused. Exactly what do i need to purchase to get the gold content? I doubt manypeople play versus so i wont get that.
I enjoyed RE5 alot more then Fo3. Fallout 3 was so boring to me that I just gave up on it. I played it for about 12 hours but something about the game just never clicked with me.
I enjoyed both games thoroughly, and I actually just finished RE5 with a buddy of mine (running further and further behind on releases  ) so it's fresh in my mind.
RE5 has some fantastic visuals, some good (and not so good) combat, and a thin story. Not the best in the series by a long shot.
Fallout 3 had pretty meh graphics (though it has a massive world rendered in detail), decent combat with a couple ways to play, and a better story than RE5, which doesn't say much. It isn't widely regarded by those familiar with the series as the best, or even close.
Thing is, I spent 3 evenings playing through RE5. Maybe 8ish hours total. I spent over 110 hours on FO3 and still hadn't fully explored the map or purchased any of the DLC. That 'bang for your buck' factor puts FO3 ahead to me when I'm looking to buy a game (assuming they're equally priced).
