For me, it's Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All Stars. Probably the best fighting game on the Wii (yes, I think it's better than Brawl), but Capcom had the "wise idea" of releasing that the same day as Mass Effect 2 (NA and EU), MAG (NA and EU), and No More Heroes 2 (NA only, EU version didn't come out until MUCH later).

There were other reasons why TvsC didn't sell that high as well, but bad timing is one of the main reasons I brought this up.

Which are yours and why?

Alan Wake, released the same day as RDR, probably not the only reason since it did have next to no advertising I think (I didn't see any at least).

I seriously doubt two games that weren't even on the same platform and a game that didn't even perform very well sales wise can be blamed for Tatsunoki's poor sales. I'd say it's the platform the choose to put it on and the fact that most people outside of Japan have no idea what Tatsunoko is.

Alan Wake, same day as RDR. What was Microsoft thinking when they released a game next to a R* one with minimal advertising? Vanquish. Released between Reach and Black Ops. Not a good idea.

You really think putting it on the Wii was a reason TvsC sold like it did? I doubt it would have sold that much better on PS3/360.

Red Faction: Guerrilla. It came out around the same time everyone was pbssessing over Prototype and inFamous and ended up being forgotten amidst those two. Considering how much better then Prototype it was, I'm a little saddened.

Yes, despite what the Wii fan boys seem to think, the Wii is a casual gaming machine. There are a few hardcore games for it, but for the most part it is casual. Almost any fighting game is not made for casual gamers. Plus the controls are terrible for a fighting game. (I know you can use the classic or the GameCube controller, but I know about 15 people with a Wii, and only one of them has either of those.)

What is wrong with buying a Gamecube or CIassic Controller for the fighting games if you have a Wii?

I'm sorry, but not buying a game (and controller) when you have the system to play it on and deciding to wait for the company to spend more money making a port instead? That just doesn't make sense to me.

What you just said made little to no sense. Read that out loud, and tell me I am supposed to understand that. What is wrong with buying a 20$ controller that I would only use for a couple games? How about the fact that I would be spending 20$ on a controller that I would only use for a couple games. It is ridiculous to expect me to buy a different controller for every five games. Not to mention I am not made of money.Plus the Wii online sucks, so playing with other people would be better on the other consoles. You should cater your games to your audience. The majority of Wii owners only use their Wii for casual gaming. Fighting games are not casual games. So fighting games are much better suited on a console that makes a better medium. And they wouldn`t have to port it if it was made on the console it should have been made on to begin with, which is my argument. I hope I got what you were trying to say. Get some sleep before you reply. I would like to be able to understand whatyou say.

I was actually debating whether or not to get RFG or Infamous since both had great reviews, but I ended up getting infamous since I liked the demo more. Ended up buying RFG a few months ago for $10 new.

Valkyria Chronicles. I can't remember the exact games that released with it or close to it, but no one cared about it. I might be one of the few people who actually pre-ordered the game

Super Mario Galaxy 2, I think it's the best game this generation so far, but people weren't fond of it being released so close to its predecessor. I feel it has therefore not been as fondly remembered as it otherwise deserves, though that may just be me.

But isn't the point of owning a console is to make the most of it with what games it provides? While there are some legit points (I'll give you the Wii's online isn't that great, but TvsC was very fun online), it's stupid NOT to buy a certain game you want if it's on a system you have and wait for a port on other systems in order to make you buy it.

On top of that, saying the Wii doesn't deserve fighting games is like saying another console doesn't deserve other games. Every system needs games of many kinds.

You obviously cant wrap your brain around what I am trying to get across. So I am not going to argue with you. Fighting games just don`t work on the Wii. That is my stance.

Nier. They were begging for it to be poorly-received and sell horribly by releasing it right before FF13.

...even though everything about it, aside from the graphical prowess, was better than Nier...

I agree that Alan Wake and Split/Second both came out at a bad time, I liked both of those a lot. In early 2010 there was a busy first 3 months then after that it was kind of dry for consoles for like several months from April to September, with only May having some significant releases including Lost Planet 2, Split/Second, Blur, Alan Wake, and Super Mario Galaxy 2, and I think Super Mario Galaxy 2 stole the show for the others. Mirror's Edge I really liked but it didn't do too hot, probably because it released next to too many other highly anticipated titles like Dead Space, Fable 2, Fallout 3, Little Big Planet, Resistance 2, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead, Tomb Raider Underworld, Far Cry 2, Call of Duty World At War... Mirror's Edge was good but it just had too much competition.

^This. Alan Wake had that date confirmed first, but Microsoft should have delayed it once Rockstar pushed RDR back.

Mirror's Edge. Should have been a summer release or something where it could of shined, instead of playing with big boys.

None that I can think of. I played the games as I wanted to, not as they came out. No one can say whether the sales for a game were affected by other releases, especially since these games are often targeted at people with different tastes.
