And vice-versa just for the hell of it.

IGN's 9.9 for Jade Empire springs instantly to mind...
And as for Vice versa... X-Play's 2/5 rating for Crisis Core.
Play magazine gave Lair a 9.0/10 :lol:Stevo_the_gamerthey also gave Sonic the hedgehog(360/PS3) a 8.5
Gamespot 9.0 for Phantom Hourglass.Willy105
I think PH definitely deserves a 9.0. Its biggest flaw was that damn dungeon you had to repeat a million times, but besides that, the game was great.
Regarding the original question, pretty much any bad game reviewed by Play. Most recently, they gave that new Golden Axe game a 9.0 (I believe) and then bashed all the reviewer who gave it less than a 7, which is nearly everyone who reviewed it. :|

That was the reason it didn't deserve a 9.0. Games should be designed to be fun, a developer as experienced and talented as Nintendo EAD should know that.

Lair wasn't that bad ... Sonic was.
Game Informer gave Lair an 8.25 (or something...it was in the eights I know) and, more notably, The Club received an 8.75.
Seriously GI? :|
But...everything kicks incredible amounts of ass according to Game Informer so I shouldn't have been too surprised
Gamespot 9.0 for Phantom Hourglass.Willy105
So Phantom Hourglass was a ridiculously bad game?
I thought it deserved a 9. And I thought it was a very fun game, one of the best on the DS.
Play magazine's review of Lair takes the cake, simply because it recieved a 9/10 solely based on the fact Factor 5 promised to fix all the bugs and issues in the WiP copy Play used for the review.
On the other hand, Jeff Gerstmann's Gran Turismo review was so bad (IIRC it was in the 6's) GS had the game re-reviewed.

You act like GI actually cares about their reviews. They're hidden in the back.
GTA4 getting a 10 at Gamestop is laughable. Its at most an 8.0 IMO. When you think of what it means to score "perfect" it's so sad.BillCutting
true
no game deserves a perfect score
and if any

Agreed. the game feels more like a chore than a game
Gamespot:
PDZ - 9
Chrono Cross - 10
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 - 10
LoZ: Majoras Mask - 8.3 - underrated by about 1.0. Brilliant game.
IGN:
Kingdom Hearts 2 - 7.6 - underrated by about 1.0 for such an impressively made game.
Final Fantasy XII - 9.5 - 0.5 Too high, sucked into the hype.
Also IGN just gave Wii Music a 5/10 and 1up an A-. I'm scratching my head a little bit here. Someone is wrong.
heavenly sword a perfect 10, play magazine
pokemon for the gameboy 8.8, that game is no less than a 10, it is handheld rpg perfection and couldnt have been done any better on the platform it was on

Having finished the game, it is THE DS GAME to own in any DS owner's DS repertoire. The dungeon might have been the weak point, but the equipments and items used to plow through this very same dungeon allowed the player to find new shortcuts, thus shaving significant time. It wasn't that bad at all.

An 8? You should realize that most people disagree when the average is 97.1%...
what do you think it deserved?
i would say 9 at most, to many good things were cut out. and the additions were ok, but nothing that did anything for the "fun factor" online is ok, but i'm more of a single player person myself.
OXM giving Dead Space a 6.5.smack_masta
OXM gave dead space a 6.5? I guess they don't give you a good review if you don't pay for it....
[QUOTE="EPaul"]GS gave Assasin Creed a 9
Vice-versa R&C FTOD a 7.5

Hafta agree with you on this one
i don't. assassin's creed was cool. didn't play RC though.

wasn't PH done by capcom?
Play magazine gave Lair a 9.0/10 :lol:Stevo_the_gamer
Yeah they do that all the time apparently. Beast Rider is another 9/10. Those dudes have bizarre tastes in games. The guy who wrote that review attacked the credibility of other critics btw. :?

Phantom Hourglass was made by Nintendo.
But a Capcom development team called Flagship made a Oracle of Season's and Ages + The Minish Cap in the past, both excellent games.
The studio was dismantled though, similarly, and also around the same time as Clover Studio. Damn you Capcom.

No you don't :|
How do you review a game for its mods when no mods will be available by the time that game is released?
