Microsoft doesn't have bungie anymore, and the closed down FASA. Some guy said they lost bizarre too. I'm think microsoft might want to buy some big developer so they can get more first party game. Which studio do u think they should buy? (if they ever buy one)

EA would be the obvious choice. theyd rule the world if they did. as of right now EA owns half the industry, if microsoft bought them theyd be set for life.

it will be over a 1 billion dollar deal for sure. but think, it would be for almost half the gaming industry. all the ea sports games, theyd make more profit off ubisoft since ea owns a big chunk, plus all the subsitiaries that ea just aquired in the deal. bizzare, critiron, etc. it would be the smartest move they coule make.

No, Epic should remain indeendent as should have BioWare. They should just buy EA and call it a day.

I don't think they would want to buy Sega, plus they would need to buy Sammy too unless Sammy agrees to sell them Sega. It would be nice if someone bought Sega and put their franchises in better hands though.

Not neccessarily. There's something called the Sherman Anti-trust Act that would keep that from happening.

I believe EA is worth 19 billion (at the moment i am writing this) so if they wanted to control EA they could just buy 51% for 9.5 billion.

I dont think people realize how big EA is. MS could not buy them without sacrificing alot of money from other parts of their weatlthy company to try and save their gaming division that has yet to turn a profit since its creation and only caused a loss in money.

People also need to realize that the ONLY way a vast company like EA can stay afloat and hold on to its grip on a good chunk of the gaming industry is to ensure profits by making games for every gaming system under the sun. If MS bought them and just made the EA devision make games for the 360 then they would hemmorrage money until the entire company would pull out like SEGA.

EA goes multiplat out of survival.

Plus microsoft has been introuble for that before taking over the market and the like and it would take alot of convincing for microsoft share holders for them to buy ea

They could still make games for the Wii and the PC...drive the PS3 out of the market...and then rule supreme over the gaming world.

I don't think this would be good for gamers though, so I hope this does not occur.

Could it happen? Yes...and it would not surprise me.

Will it happen? Probably not.

LOL...do you guys even know Peter moores postion in EA. He is head of EAs sports division. Do you know how many divisions there are in EA. Peter Moore has NO pull in helping MS aquire EA, lol not even close. All he does is do what he does best, make sure EA sports games are runningfine and talk to the media. He is not President of the company or anything.

LOL...big wig...sure.

True, all they need is 1 share more than half but I think if MS was to actually perform a take over they would take the whole thing. Another thing, their current stock price is not what MS would have to pay, they would have to offer more than what the stock is currently trading at which would push them over 20B if they would want to goble the whole thing down. It's hard to imagine them doing it since they would lose so much revenue when they convert it to a first party but if anyone could do it, it's Microsoft.

Again notpossible. Have you seen Madden's sales on the Wii. THe PS3 actually sold alot more Madden's then the Wii with a much smaller fanbase. They couldnt chase the PS3 out because Japan at the least buys alot more PS3s then 360s and EA games are not important to them.

If MS aquired EA by some crazy miracle, they would have to downsize and sell divisions of it to the point where it would be a pointless purchase. You are also forgetting the very real possibility of devs leaving EA out of anger for being locked to one system and forming their own gaming division to make games multiplat, so then EA would be bought but all its talent would have moved and created a new hot gaming division for multiplats.

I don't think so because there is still Sony and Nintendo which are big aswell and then there is T2, Activision, THQ ect... there are plenty of other companies out their. It's not like there is 3 and 2 were merging.

Either Epic or Bioware. EA would be worth it though, even if it costs 10s of billions.

Microsoft buying EA = Console wars are officially over.

MS wont make a move anytime soon... buts its coming and will be big, The ps3 is ready for the knockout blow. 360 is already well ahead in this gens cycle... is there any doubt we will be seeing a new xbox platform sometime in the near future? And whats great is instead of spending $600 now, for something that will be obsolete in three years, I will spend about the same amount and remain on the cutting edge with mircrosofts new platform that will feature an affordable HD DVD drive(which is now winning the format war).

Again notpossible. Have you seen Madden's sales on the Wii. THe PS3 actually sold alot more Madden's then the Wii with a much smaller fanbase.

Are you saying that EA would go out of business if the PS3 goes the way of the Dreamcast? I doubt that. I mean, I doubt that EA would sease to be...not that PS3 will be discontinued.

They couldnt chase the PS3 out because Japan at the least buys alot more PS3s then 360s and EA games are not important to them.Javy03

If there is no PS3 in Japan, perhaps there could be lots more 360s. I don't think the PS3 could survive with only the Japanese market...and I don't think the PS3 could survive worldwide without the games EA publishes.

If MS aquired EA by some crazy miracle, they would have to downsize and sell divisions of it to the point where it would be a pointless purchase.Javy03

You just don't know how much money MS has. They could probably buy EA with the profits they make in a couple of years. No need to sell or downsize.

You are also forgetting the very real possibility of devs leaving EA out of anger for being locked to one system and forming their own gaming division to make games multiplat,Javy03

LOL. Now this point is funny. Everybody working for EA right now is probably a minion of the devil. I hardly think that EA programmers are in it for the sake of art or the integrity of gaming.

And why would they quit if there is no PS3 in existence to develop for?

Now don't get me wrong. I don't think this is a viable scenario, but I don't think it is an impossibility if MS was hell bent on putting the PS3 out of its misery once and for all.

If I were MS I would simply start todevelop there own production teams and start to make true first party games (like Nintendo). This way all they would have to do is hire and pay talented game makers witch is a lot cheaper then buying a 2nd party game company.

None. Invest the money in Microsoft Games and have them making more Age of Empires, Age of Mithology, Rise of Nations, Dungeon Siege or a new IP.

And FTC is very unlikely to approve Microsoft buying EA. That would vert easly be held in the antitrust review.

I know, MS should have bought them when they had the chance.
