Well, I'm a hardcore Super Smash Bros. fan. I just gotta say that Kirby is the best character in the N64 version. He lost his touch in the Gamecube version, being handily outclassed by Marth and Roy.
However, Fox was awesome in the N64 version AND Gamecube version. He's a character that remained awesome in both games, but I still like Kirby the most. And I can kick your asses with Kirby in the original.

Uh, that'll be a different game... Compare Kirby in the original to Kirby in the second... Night and day. What will using Marth in SSB:B prove about Marth in SSB:M? Marth is a noob character. Get used to it and find some better competition. Almost everyone goes through a Marth stage and eventually move on when they get pushed hard enough.

In Smash Melee...I'm not too sure. Nintendo/HAL did an awesome job balancing since new characters are being used and improved every day even with the usual noob characters present (Marth, I'm looking at you). I'm leaning towards Donkey Kong and Ness. DK has an insane chain throwing/juggling ability (As seen here) and Ness for his sheer swiftness and utilities (As seen here). Of course the "Easiest character to use" reward goes to Marth.

Eh, maybe. But I haven't lost to Marth in as long as I can remember.
Fox for me. Marth/Roy I don't like one of the tactic ppl use with them, You kick an oponent out of the ring, the oponent tries to return, and you wait with marth/roy on the border with ur charge / b button. Fox is all about strategy 8)

That's normal speed game wise, high end professional speed player wise. As for wavedashing, yes, there's wavedashing in there. :)
