Every generation has its share of systems, some are remembered more than others. For last gen some might say the PS2 is mostly remembered because of its stand out library.

Which system of this generation will be remembered the most and for what reasons?

360, it revolutionized online gaming. It was the first console this gen, so don't be surprised.

EDIT: Anyone surprised by my answer? :P

The wii. Nintendo took a risk with using motion controls and they came out in top.

It'd be the Wii. It changed the industry. I'd also say Xbox 360, making online on consoles really streamlined and special

Probably the Wii or 360 tbh, Microsoft did a great job this gen with the 360 and the Wii sells like hotcakes and is pretty fun. PS3 is my favourite but that just caters to my needs better.

Xbox 360. Online gaming on consoles would still be in the stone age without MS. Shudders at the thought of Sony and Nintendo online without the revolution that MS brought.

Transfarring?

save data transferred between devices. e.g. MGS: PW save data can be transferred to and from PSP-PS3 and can be played on either system, expect transfarring to become way more common place once the vita is released.

PS3, because it revolutionized the way we experience games.

Snyper007-2

How? It plays games just like any other console.

If anything, the Wii and 360 will be remembered the most. One console revolutionized motion controls, and the other revolutionized online gaming.

What exactly did the PS3 "revolutionize?"

It was the first console with 1080p, Blu-ray and Other OS, but that's all it did besides playing games. Not that there's nothing wrong with that.

The PS3 will be remembered most for its exclusive lineup, but it didn't really revolutionize anything in terms of the way people play games.

The PS3 might be remembered as Sonys biggest series of blunders and the greatest comeback a console has ever made.

But realistically, its the Wii. It provided a different way of playing games and a bunch of unique titles. It was the first major evolution in control styIe the industry has seen in years. It was the first motion controlled gaming device to really take off in the mainstream and paved the way for Kinect, Move and the inevitable motion control gaming devices that the future will bring. It grew the market bringing all kinds of new gamers into the fold.

Love it, or hate it, the Wii made a big splash this gen and will certainly be the most remembered in years to come.

The Wii, not because its the best or because it 'owns all the rest' but because it's different and reached an incredible audience with its casual gamer appeal and explored many facets and frontiers of gaming that have rarely been capitalised on. The 360 and PS3 added new stuff but for the most part just seem to be updates of the PS2 and Xbox.

As much as I love PS3, I really think people are going to remember the 360 the most. The majority of gamers really do seem to love the 360 & even though Wii has technically sold better, 360 is much, much more popular.

The Wii, followed almost immediately by the Xbox 360. Both systems thoroughly dominated as far as mindshare is concerned, and therein lies Sony's greatest defeat with the PS3.

I can just see the VH1 remember 2011 ten years from now and how they will laugh at how stupid everyone looked waving their arms around, parents hitting their child upside the head trying to get a super smash while playing the Wii. By then motion controls will make the hardcore believe.

This. The 360 will be remembered for this gen and by some the Wii. The PS3, sadly, will be remembered as the downfall of the PS brand.

I want to say the Wii simply due to it's sales and innovative motion controls. Yeah all of them are doing it now, but they were the first to bring them to the market. It seems like the 360 is more popular, in my eyes anyways. I play mine more than my PS3 and Wii combined. It may be remembered more for it's early hardware debacle though. The PS3 is very advanced, but took off a bit slow. Tough call but I'm gonna say the Wii simply due to it's vast success.

The 4.0 firmware update RUINED on of those features. Now I have to redownload all my Final Fantasy (1.5GB+ remind you) games to put them on my PSP, because Sony got rid of the "copy" feature for installed games. That really pissed me off. :x

360 probably, given it seems to be COD headquarters, and you see how COD sells. Then there's Halo and Gears. While I don't like any of those, it seems that's what many folks today equate with video gaming just like the little man running on the screen on the Nintendo represented video games back in the 80s and early 90s.

PS3 will remembered for its failure and the 4d and 120fps it promised. Released at 600 dollars and had no games How cows continue to state xbox shooter console yet they have just as much shooters.

The pile of crappy JRPGs people hype. PS3 gamers does not buy games. This generation will mark the end of cows.
