I could base my guesses on the SNES, so I am just going to say since the Wii won (yes, not in the future tense), it'll get more games, thus more lifespan, and be right about the whole thing.
I doubt Sony is going to make the same mistake of releasing a console after its competitors again. I expect the PS3 to be short lived. I actually think this is going to be a short generation. Microsoft will keep pushing Sony down with price drops while Nintendo builds its userbase and start working towards the HD Wii.
It is way to hard to tell right now which system is going to last the longest. The gen just started.
I voted Wii and I'll tell you why: PS3 will have the cool games that we're used to seeing but is easy to compare to the Xbox 360. When Microsoft releases its next gen system Sony will have to release it's next gen system in the same timeframe. Wii is different, it's already similar to the DS, quirky little system with some sweet games available and more on the way. Nintendo don't have to stay in the graphics race anymore, they just have to keep making great games for this one system.

Sony has stated that the PS3 will have a 10 year life-cycle. So I would say PS3 will try to hang on that long. Nintendo and MS will have consoles out at least twice in that span.

I highly doubt the PS3 will last long. Lack of games, lack of support by the consumer sector, over priced system, and technical problems with backwards compatibility.

By your logic the PSP will have a higher life-span than the DS. Not going to happen.
Wii will have the longest life-span because it will have the highest demand. Just look at the GBA (still outselling the PS3 even 7 years into its cycle).
Wii > All consoles this generation in terms of financial success.

Personally I hope the 360, there is a small chance because its the developers favorite console for this generation, but we'll have to see for that one to come true.
The ps3 I think will last the longest, because it has blue-ray, that helpes of course for the future.

Wii willl probalylast longer then the gamecube, but somehow I think the Wii can suddenly die when the controller hype is over.
well seeing as sony supported the PS1 for around a couple of years after the PS2 released, and the PS2 is probably gonna have a couple more years of support from sony at least(according to them) and the PS3 is supposed to last 10 years aswell. I'd say PS3 will probably have the longest life span mainly due to the fact that whenever sony releases a new console they continue supporting their previous one. Unless the PS3 becomes a complete disaster and is discountinued or whatever after the PS4 comes out the PS3 will probably have the longest life span. That's my view on it :)
