I'd still prefer to see a new direction with the Metroid series. First Person is not the only way to create such an atmosphere. I'd just like them to explore the metroid universe a bit (And yes, by them I mean Retro).[QUOTE="theuncharted34"][QUOTE="nintendo-4life"] NO NO & NO! You're out of your mind... Voice acting? Isolation is what make the prime games what they are. IDC about wii motion plus or any of that either. It really can't be metroid prime 4 anyways, dark samus and the metroid prime are dead.
Odd, most of the people like the revival of Nintendo's old franchises. I mean, why would you hate it? It's not milking since we haven't seen the franchise for such a long time (when was the last proper Donkey Kong Country game? or Kirby? or 2D Mario game on home consoles? Not to mention it has been over 4 years since the last full-fledged Zelda on home consoles), and the games that come out are very good (unless you are an ignorant fanboy blinded by your personal bias to judge the game even before playing).funsohng
Some people are just tired of the franchises and their familiarity, regardless of how good the actual game is. Just like some people are tired of all the halos or call of dutys or metal gears or any other franchise with an excessive number of entries.

The difference with the nintendo games is, they may share the same mascot over and over, but every game has a distinct and different feel to them.

Right, becaue halo reach and halo wars are totally interchangable, as is metal gear 4 and megal gear acid, or the first call of duty and call of duty black ops.

Come on man. You're obviously some noob troll and you're not even trying to hide it.
Yes Nintendo will probably release another game from one of their cla-ssic franchises. BUT, Miyamoto also said that he is working on a new IP.
So there ya go.
And you haven't played DKCR it seems. This game is excellent with a lot of game time available. It'll take you a while to finish this game 200%

Games do get forgotten and dated, though. As time goes on, the old games will be less and less appealing to the fans.[QUOTE="theuncharted34"]

What he means is that for example, 2D Metroids give a certain experience, then Prime is a completely different experience (yet with the same mascot), and Metroid Other M is another new experience (and again from the same mascot).
There you go, 3 completely different experiences from the same franchise. ANd you could probably break the 2D metroids up a bit too.
Same with the Mario series. Sunshine and 64 bring you one experience, Galaxy 1 and 2 give something completely different. The same could be said with the 2D ones as well.
This goes on and on. And you feel great differences between seemingly similar games. Yoshi's Island has a completely different feel to Super Mario World. Sper Mario World has a completely different feel to NSMB:Wii.
Unlike Halo is with the transition from 1 to 2. Or from CoD to CoD.

I'm not even going to bother. None of Nintendo's major IP's is "tired." You just have entirely unrealistic expectations that would be impossible for any developer, with any budget, could ever achieve given 25 years to make a game.
[...] but every game has a distinct and different feel to them.theuncharted34
I'm loving New Super Mario Bros Wii myself... I would love to see more old favs come back on all systems. Lets get some F-Zero, Crimson Skies, etc
BTW all consoles have series. Halo, Final Fantasy, Sonic, etc etc just keep coming.

That would make my year!
And I dont see whats wrong with DKCR and NSMBW. Both are far above being average platformers. Rock solid platforming mechanics, outstanding level design and plenty of content to keep you playing. Dont really know what else you want from a platformer TC. :?

I already gave the examples of games in the halo and metal gear franchises which are completely different from each other, so I don't see how this changes my point in any way.

Ya know, I played Epic Yarn for about a half hour and put it down. It was charming enough, sure, but just didnt draw me in. I'll probably give it another go here soon.
And yeah, NSMB felt (I HATE the overuse of this word)... a little generic. Hard to explain, but it was like an assembly line Mario. The gameplay and level design was fantastic and for that I love the game. It just didnt have its own identity the way the other Mario platformers do. Hard to put into words.
A level editor would be great! I still get on SMBX from time to time. Leagues above LBP and absolutely free.:)

Halo CE and halo reach are very similar. Same with call of duty and every game you listed.

His last new IP is technically the Wii series (which Wii Music is apart of), but I guess he considers his last one to be Pikmin. His next new IP will be in the same vein as Pikmin, Zelda, and Mario, not Nintendogs or the Wii series.
That Star Fox game is nothing more than the N64 game with new graphics, so it doesn't count as a return for Fox.the poster above is 100% right
Nintendo is bringing Star Fox and Kid Iracus to the 3DS next year

Well say no more. I'm sure I'll be able to find it.
And I agree the lack of wall jumping seems odd at first. I was losing countless lives on SMB3 and SMW for a while because I got used to NSMBW, but I was able to adapt and actually appreciate the challenge of not having such an easy fail safe maneuver.
