Before I begin, this thread is NOT a fanboy flamewar zone. Just keep that in mind, ok?

Anyways, I am considering to buy one of these consoles at a later time this year. For those of you that own both of these, it'd be great if you guys could share some opinions about each.

So far, I have rulled out that the xbox 360 is in most cases better performing when it comes to multi-platform games compared to the PS3. I must say though that I am a rather casual gamer, so I wouldn't mind using the other media features that each console has to offer. Besides that, I can't decide.

Opinions please!

Heh, I wouldn't say that I love Halo, but it is fun to play with friends. :) I never got into Fable...

Probably best to get a ps3. You get more bang for your buck in terms of the blu-ray player. If the multiplat thing bothers you enough though then get a 360.

then probably better off with a ps3 i guess, there are better offline exclusives.

if you arent a hardcore online gamer, you will most likely get a bit more out of a ps3.

the difference in multiplats wont be very noticeable, except in a few rare cases.

Tho if you are into splitscreen gameplay, 360 tends to be a bit better for that purpose... since you have gears and halo.

Ah, thanks for the input guys. As of now, I am more leaning towards a PS3. The one difficulty would be to track down a 20/60GB model with hardware BC. Still, since my friends all own a 360, why not join the crowd? Plus the fact that I already own a Xbox 360 controller for Windows so...

PS3 is probably better for you because it's better.

Joining the crowd is usually the reason why people buy the 360 but if you don't play much online that doesn't really matter.

PS3 by far. The 360 has dropped the ball in terms of current and upcoming exclusives. Multiplatform games are pretty much exactly the same, you aren't being disadvantaged by playing them on the ps3. Plus ps3 is free to play online while MS is increasing the price to play for XBL.

PS3 has a Blu Ray player and many more big-name exclusives ahead. It is also free to play PS3 games online. I think Xbox 360 is a great platform, but most of its games are behind it now. And I figure if you've waited until 2010 to play its excellent library, you can wait just a little bit longer. Because the Xbox 360 is already very cheap (especially the still in stock new units and used units), and I can only see it getting cheaper. I think Kinect is going to bomb and Microsoft doesn't have many exclusives on the horizon beyond Halo Reach, Gears of War 3, Fable III, and Crackdown 2. Possibly a new Forza or PGR, but that's pure speculation. I think we are truly witnessing the Xbox 360's swan song. I think it'll remain in production and games will continue to be made for it, but it will struggle to remain relevant in the face of Sony and Nintendo's upcoming line ups. Sony has Killzone 3, Resistance 3, Yakuza 4 and 5, White Knight Chronicles 2, Uncharted 3 (voice work is already being recorded for it), Gran Turismo 5, LittleBigPlanet 2, Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One, Heroes on the Move, Motorstorm Apocalypse, Twisted Metal, Final Fantasy Versus XIII... And Wii has Donkey Kong Country Returns, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Sonic Colors, Wii Party, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Epic Mickey, The Last Story, Lost in Shadow, Goldeneye 007, Conduit 2, Xenoblade... Most of the rest of the big titles we know about are shared between PS3 and Xbox 360 or exclusive to one of the other platforms (Wii, PC, DS, PSP, 3DS).

It really comes down to how much you want a blu-ray player and whether you mind paying for online. Games wise they're pretty even.

PS3 other media features = $0 extra cost above and beyond what the media companies may charge you. Online multiplayer gaming is free of charge.

360 other media features =$60 a year to access media features, above and beyond what the media companies may charge you. Any form of online multiplayer gaming is only allowed on the 360 if you pay them that $60 per year.

I guess i'll let you decide from there.

I think most PC gamers would tend to agree that if you do in fct PC game there is even less reasons to get a 360. most, not all, but a good majority of what is on the 360 is also on the PC.

As for getting a 360 because your friends have one? Nothing wrong with that but you can and will make plenty of friends playing online games on either console so I personally wouldn't let that be a major deciding factor. There will never be a shortge of people for online play.
