Which video game characters have shown the largest graphical evolution? (56k)

Remember this is purely on character models and nothing else. Being a long time gamer and seeing some characters evolve really makes me feel connected to the character, as if i were a part of the experience. ANyway enough of the sentimental gibberish, here are my top 3.

I know but GOW 3 makes him look pretty good.. a huge step above the ps2/psp games.

Yeah, but the arcade game was on about the same level graphically as SMB, if not better.

My vote is for either Snake or Mario. It helps that they are the few that have been around since almost the beginning :P

Link most definitely. Mario has been out a little longer than the Zelda series, but Mario hasn't really jumped between artistic styIes and remained true to the design. Snake... hasn't really changed much since MGS on the PS, except for some extra hair on his head and face.

In all seriousness, anyone who says Master Cheif or mentions Killzone is either joking, or an idiot. A jump from 6th gen to 7th isn't as drastic as Mario's jump from arcades to 7th gen. Or Solid Snake's jump. Or even Link's jump. I'd have to say that Snake has the most improvement and has easily had the largest evolution.

Link has always been over head 3d ish design. Like Solid Snake, but there is a big difference between NES Snake and PS3 snake vs NES Link verse Wii Link. ANd you can't prove that wrong. Mario when NES 2d side scroll to Wii 3d so he's experienced a bigger evolution jump then Link.

Opinion: There are probably more polygons on Snake then both Mario and Link entire levels combined. Based on polygons on screen. Just guessing.

Obviously the older ones that are still actual will win. You need some kind of rule like, in one gen only, or separate categories for 2-D and 3-D, or something like that.
