For original, I'd say Portal and Red Dead Redemption are damn amazing to listen to.
For licensed (or just all around), most Grand Theft Auto and Tony Hawk games will have some amazing music picks. Nothing like mowing down fat ladies in an ice cream truck while listening to Maneater.
The Saints Row games also have alright soundtracks (specifically, The Third), and obviously most music games will be full of good tracks.
Machinarium and Samorost 2 have really well done soundtracks always a joy listening to them and as far of sound tracks that work really well ingame the Demon souls soundtrack worked very well at adding to the mood and atmosphere of the game and making boss fights and the game overall that much more engaging but not a big fan of listening to orchestrated music so I don't really like listening to it outside the game. And I haven't even gotten around to playing the game but really enjoying the Blocks that Matter Soundtrack love the minimalist 8 bit electronic style of it.

seconded also green hill and chemical plant are shouts...oh yeah and seaside hill thats catchy as hell.
The Witcher 2, no contest.
Some personal favorites of mine include Serious Sam 3, Deus Ex:HR, WoW, SC2, Skyward Sword, Darksiders, Mafia 2, Skyrim, and more.
[QUOTE="vegaruins666"]Nothing from this generation. past games casharmy
Damn, I'm not alone +1
Uncharted, and maybe Mass Effect. Uncharted(2&3) really captures that "experience" feeling like Halo:CE and Shenmue.
Sorry bro I absolutely love Demon's Souls but it's score is abysmal.MGS2: sons of Liberty or MGS3: snake eater
Honorable mention:
Halo 1
Nothing from this gen really has an inspiring sound track, the closest would be Demon's Souls and Dark souls

Portal 2, Xenoblade, Cave Story, Braid and Orcs Must Die.
They're the few games I bothered getting the OST for.

Well home cake, I did say closest.
The reason I give it that praise is because it's somber sounds when you enter a safe area, or up tempo heart pounding survive or die tones that chime in are perfect to a "T". Everything in the score of DS is properly catered to by the aggressiveness of the track...in some instances you can actually gauge the level of danger you are in by the tempo of the track. You probably even noticed this because it's implemented so naturally that it doesn't even seem to be there, but that's what makes is so impressive.
Even when there isn't a sound track playing, there is still a sound track...that natrual sounds of the world in Demon's Souls are so ingrossing that those sounds themselve create a sound track, I don't think it's ever been done better than the way it has been done in this game.
Uncharted and Ratchet & Clank have some really catchy tunes. (Excuse me if I'm sounding like a fanboy)
The Gimlick Valley soundtrack from A Crack in Time is the most at peace I have ever felt while playing a video game.
