When you ask that question, are we strictly talking hardware? Or do you mean which had the better game library? If hardware, then I vote Xbox, but if software, I easily vote PS2.
It's a tough call for me when deciding which system from the last gen was my favorite. I freaking love the GameCube's controller, plus it had some great exclusives (though there weren't many). The PS2 has a fantastic catalogue of games, and the X-Box was the most graphically advanced.
Playstation 2, I still play it every week, so many games came out that I still have many to beat. And still several still coming by the end of the year that I will buy for sure, its still awesome to this day.

Wasn't that Sega DreamCast? As for the topic PS2> GC> Xbox because of the library of games.
There were a fewer eariler systems with some online capabilities, but yeah, I'm pretty sure the Dreamcast was the first fully capable one.
xbox was a better system then ps2. but it didnt have the game support. this time the ps3 is the better one and the 360 and getting more games. crazy aint it?
