I'm sorry, but I am completely confused on Bungie's tactic here.

Who will honestly buy the halo expansion for the single player, considering how bad the core game was in it? I know it says it'll focus on "stealth", but being an expansion, exactly how much different can it be?

I don't know, but I HIGHLY doubt they won't make the mp maps coming with the expansion available for download for people that don't have it, which pretty much means your paying for another sub-par single-player mode.

No new mp weps?

No new Bungie gamemodes?

No new gameplay changes for mp?

Why not continue on what's successful instead of creating yet another sub-par singleplayer experience, is all I'm wondering.

I actually did buy it for the singleplayer.

I don't care for multiplayer, and the previous two Halo's had an enjoyable sp experience. Nothing amazing, but just some casual fun that I can pick up and play, and then put down without caring. It's nice for when you want to play, but don't have the time to get too involved.

I bought Halo 1 and Halo 2 for the SP and to see what all the fuss was about....Did not bother with the third one

It does have a good story but did not care for the gameplay very much....Not much of a FPS fan

I did. Halo 1 was never famous for its MP

Besides outside of the game, Halo has a rich and interesting lore

Single player and 2 player split screen co-op. (with family/friends)

each time, I have played some online but the shear amount of adolescence has turned me off from the game.

Not saying CoD4 don't have some of the same problems, but it is my online multiplayer shooter of choice..... ATM.

I'm buying the game for the SP. It looks interesting, and it'll be different(In a good way) playing as a more weaker soldier that won't be able to just plow through enemy forces unlike the Master Chief.

I enjoyed the past 3 halo games. It's great that Microsoft are playing with the different ways of portraying such an awesome franchise's story points.

In this case, the MP is just a bonus. ODST's are a mystery to me. It'll be an honor to be able to play as one fighting against the convenant. :D

Funny how you think the Halo 3 single player experience is sub-par.

I definitely wouldn't have cared less if Bungie excluded the MP, because Halo is all about the story and the single player. Without the Halo story, Master Chief wouldn't be the icon he is today.

I just look at the multi-player as a wonderful bonus Bungie added to the game to keep us playing for months after. Good hard work on the dev's part. It makes the game a complete package.

I bought Halo's because everyone else did and it was supposed to be so damn great. The first one was actually. The others didn't feel as fresh and impressive. I think they're fairly mediocre actually. Never played much of multiplayer. The maps are so damn small and I want more vehicles. It's just dumb how they have these awesome vehicle physics but you barely get to take advantage of them.

Anyhows, I'm not getting Recon in fact. I've learned my lesson by now.

Is this a joke? The halo stories are so badly told in the game it isn't funny:| , it was the gameplay not the story at all...

You realize that Halo 1 did not have online because Xbox live did not exist back then right? The only way to do multiplayer was splitscreen (which sucked) and System link (Which the 9 people insane enough to bring 16 xboxes and 16 tv's did.)

Halo 1 did something to sell on it's singleplayer, and with all the fancy gameplay mechanics the other selling point was the story. Most reviews says that Halo has a compelling story to go along with the game.

This is what I gather from halo 1

Super Soldier fights hostile aliens on what seems to be a super weapon......... then....... flood?? WTF where did that come from. I honestly didn't see anything for that transition to happen during the story because it was told so poorly I didn't care.

I'd have been pissed if Halo 3 didnt have multiplayer or single player. The're both important and very enjoyable to me.

4 player co-op is featured in Halo 3 recon. That got my hopes up a bit. After all, the main attraction for Halo is playing online with other people.

Uniqueness in stories does not lay within the realm of common tones, it lies within the telling of that story and how it unfolds, every thing has been done before and really if the extent of unique is that which is new, nothing is unique for every thing has been done before in some form or another weither it be in a book, or a tv show, or a cartoon.

Halo has a unique story in the way it is told and how good it is told.

One does not choose the entertainer that first told the story but the one that told it best.

I certainly will. People may call the Halo story crap or generic but i still love it. Im really excited about Recon, plus there is a lot being added to multiplayer too so it'll appeal to both camps.

halo's story is told terribly and theirs nothing good or special about it. Most of my Friends have always told me to read the books for the story and that's were the story is overall, its in the books not the game.

I mean the Plot twist in the first Halo I thought was stupid. It wasn't predictable which I liked but the way they showed it wasn't very good and just left me scratching me head and saying "ok....whatever".

I thought Halo 2's story was much worse and their were some characters that I did just not understand and most of the time had nothing to do with the Plot. It left me scratching my head once again after this became such a mess and it all refers to that "THIS MAKES NO SENCE".

and Halo 3's singleplayer I have yet to lay my finger on. After the disappointment of the original and Halo 2 I just said "why bother?"

This is a classic example of system wars logic if you ask me; the multiplayer is better than the single player, therefore the single player is a worthless piece of crap.

The campaign in Halo 3 was fantastic. Especially in co-op.

[QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"]Um I did, Halo has one of the best FPS stories ever.JangoWuzHere

What is the story exatly?

I'm not going to lie I think it's very generic (I don't read the books so fill me in if you have). All I see is invading aliens having to make a forced alliance to fight off a greater evil.

One does not choose the entertainer that first told the story but the one that told it best.

halo's story is told terribly and theirs nothing good or special about it.

After the disappointment of the original and Halo 2 I just said "why bother?"

thats your perogative but what was the count at last? 20 or so million sales disagree with you? 4-5 games in the world, an expansion some of the most played multiplayer EVER across all 3 games, books, and a possible movie still...hmmm seems to me the story is pretty good if it garners all that likely your opinion is just that an opinion but theres no accounting for bad taste in people really.
