Pretty much the Wii's slogan
I have a Wii, I care about graphics. I'm not going to buy piss poor looking games. I'm going to buy stuff with effort thrown into, nice looking games by the systems standards.
yes and no. i want a game that looks real when i play it on my 50" plasma not some 8bit lookin game that has the best gameplay ever. gameplay is important but so are graphicsIsn't gameplay far more important?

I care equally about both. When I played Killzone 2, I hated it because it's gameplay didn't suit me. But when I go back and play old PS2 shooters, the lack of good graphics definitely bothers me.

I find that sad. That's just me though.

Joking, but seriously, I bought a component cable for what, a hundred dollars, and it changed nothing. It gave me that "push" I needed to buy another console

You spent a hundred dollars on a component cable? You got ripped the hell off.
*raises hand quickly and pulls skinny's up* great graphics and bad gameplay = OK game good graphics good gameplay = good game bad graphics and great gameplay = ok game good graphics great gameplay = great game great graphics good gameplay = incredibly good game just look at sales etc etc etc excluding the outlier halo, and it's clearly true, and this shows that people care more about graphics does it not?"Slowly and timidly raises hand"

Ehh But it is a lot harder to get immersed in a game world that looks like this
as opposed to this
[QUOTE="Duxsox56"]Bullcrap! Your imagination is what makes it immersive and enjoyable.Graphics make the game look more real, which helps with the immersion factor, thus making the game more enjoyable.

I'm sorry, but no.
Immersion relies heavily on how a game is presented and how it looks. If a game looks like ass, it's practically impossible to become immersed.
If a game say like Halo: ODST looked like Halo: CE, the whole immersive feel of being truly alone in the dark would be gone entirely.

It's like saying that a blind veteran sniper can fire his weapon more accurately than a 15-year-old kid.
Duxsox56
Umm... how is it like saying that? At all?
Try to play the game with your TV turned off, I'm sure gameplay is going to make it more interesting. Who cares about graphics, right?

This, all the way.I don't necessarily care if they are bad, but I do appreciate good graphics.

How is it like that at all?
both people = 2 people playing a video game
blind guy = person who's playing with terrible graphics
kid = person who's playing with good graphics
accuracy = fun factor (gameplay)
Is it that hard to understand?
Sure gameplay is more important than graphic personally for me, but to just neglect the graphics component of a game just because someone prefer gameplay more just doesn't make any sense at all. For example, if there were two version of a game with the exact same gameplay with one having spectacular graphic while the other just looks average... surely we would want the better looking title. Again prefering one over the others doesn't mean we don't need the other category.Isn't gameplay far more important?

That's a horrible comparison. If a game has great gameplay but bad graphics, unless you're a graphics whore you'll appreciate the gameplay throughout the game. If it's the other way around, you can appreciate the graphics, but the gameplay will eventually make you quit playing far to early to fully appreciate the game for what it is. If you were going to make the blind guy comparison, that would mean a game had no graphics.

I never said that gameplay wasn't needed. I said that graphics make the gameplay better whether you care about them or not.

Really? Well, then I wonder how millions manage to immerse themselves into books, every single time they pick one up. Maybe it's just one of life's great mysteries... Have you realized yet that was you're saying is a bunch of BS, and that you haven't fully though this out?I agree with you. Graphics have nothing to do with the immersion. I can still get into classic games.
thats what sucks about consoles when u play a old game you can do nothing to improve the graphics your stuck with last-gen resolution and can't enable any filtering. On pc i can run old games like dues ex and quake I at high resolution of 1920x1200 and enable 24xAA and 16xAF which makes the game alot better and visually appealing. Dues ex looked fine to me heavily outdated but the high reolsution and no jaggies went a long way.I care equally about both. When I played Killzone 2, I hated it because it's gameplay didn't suit me. But when I go back and play old PS2 shooters, the lack of good graphics definitely bothers me.
