In System wars it should be strictly out games and hardware comparison and not include sales. I own a PS3 and a wii and I really wanting an Xbox 360 for Gears 2 and a couple of other really insane games. I think I know the logical behind wanting your console to have more sales then the competition it's because you will expect to have better third party games. Which is not even close to the truth look at the wii sales compared to it competitors this gen and then compare the 3 third party games that the three consoles have. I cant even think of one really good third party wii game that would make me go out a buy a wii.(btw I bought the wii strictly for brawl but I thinking of selling it because it's a joke for a console compared to it's competitors.) A true gamer only focus on the games, and not on how much that game sold in the U.S. What I trying to say is that I will enjoy playing my PS3 weather it sells 20 million PS3's or 120 million PS3's. Sales only effect the Stock holders not gamers.fartrangerYeah Im sick of sales crap too!
Consol sales matter alot to fanboys, but as a gamer its the system with the biggest ammount of great games that wins. The Wii has great sales, but nothing but a handful of good games, the usual Mario everything, and tons and tons of shovelware that sales like hot dog poop. Meanwhile the 360 slowed down in sales, but its gaming library is loaded with tons of great games that sell like crazy with the PS3 bringing up the slack. Personally I hate the Wii and the dumbing down it does to the industy as a whole. The PS2 had both crazy games sales and broke the 100 million sold barrier easily. Hell its still selling somehow.

Dude I know isn't that werid I went to wal'mart after work to buy a controller for my PS3 so be and my bro can play madden and while I was standing in line I saw two people in front of me buy a PS2 with what looked like a bundle of PS2 games I couldn't really tell but I was like whoa in PS2 eight year it is still being in high demand even with outdated graphics and people still play it. But I dont blame them There are so many good games for the PS2 I could swim in them.
I'm STILL buying PS2 games to add to my collection. (well by still I mean starting, finally getting a job and with nothing being over 20 dollars.... the games just keep rolling in.....)There are so many good games for the PS2 I could swim in them.

Of course, we all know Wii is junk though so no one really talks about sales anymore

+ your missing out some great Wii titles.... + the Wii offers me something different...
Okay, there has to be a distincition made here, between the real world and SW. In the real world sales matter to companies, shareholders, devs and indirectly the consumer, since a console that sells bad doesn't receive a lot of dev support, meaning less games.
In SW sales matter to everyone who wants to use better sales numbers to flame users preferring another system. Although I must admit that Nintendo sales lately don't count anymore, since the Wii offers so little content to please the average SW-going gamer.

why am I pleased by the Wii then? I suppose owning a PS3 may help... but £150 I found it a bargin

I also own a Wii that I don't mind owning. It's not my sentiment that Wii sales don't count, it's just what I pick up on this SW forum. Nintendo isn't taken serious any longer, even though their commercial performance is much better than that of the PS3 and 360.

It may not be taken seriously by fans and gaming experts(e.g writers for websites, magazines) but Nintendo aint gonna care when with the amount of money rolling in keeps coming....
I aint gonna care as long as I get titles like No More Heroes e.t.c and Force Unleashed which from what I have read is making use of the Wii-mote properly instead of the crappy shovelware whihc is been shoved out by Popcorn Arcade and Zoo .

I own a WiiI can really care less about sales. Its not like Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo gives me a profit of what they make. So why would sales matter to me?jasonharris48
so why should we care about what rating a certain game received from this website since it wont help us enjoy the game any more or less?
Sales matter to consolites only and only when it suites them. They use sales to bash PC then say sales mean nothing when wii is compared to 360/PS3. Personally i hate the sales argument, always have. Look at some of the best selling games of recent times, Kane and lynch for example. I'm pretty sure this sold heaps more than some great games, does it make it better?FrozzikHow when the PC has better sales. What do they say? The PC is crap because it has more sales?
I couldn't care less about sales. I have yet to figure out how to play sales. I care about games. That's why I got a PS3.Bubblehash
If you only cared about games you would have got a 360. I have all three, but if I could only afford one it would be a 360, the games are a no brainer.
Sales do matter. They determine the most profitable course of action, in which other companies will attempt to copy and emulate in order to make larger profit.
Yes, there will always be some sort of exception, but it generally goes like this.
Thus, todays sales = tomorrows games.
On the same point.
Today's sales =/= Today's games
Sales =/= quality

Nope sorry, but the 360 is seriously lacking in games for me. Everything it has that I want, I can get now without buying a 360. So no, I wouldn't have bought a 360. The 360 not having any games for me is the reason I didn't get one. Buying a system that has no games for me is not the way to go if you want to play games. You have some flawed logic going on there.I do, I do, the more my system sells the better the games are. I can also come on SW and claim ownage. I gives me something to do because I already beat the 4 good games my system has to offer.:roll:lolkie_81See what I mean by you have flawed logic. Sales=/=better games. Just look at the wii if you want proof.

you must be short-sighted. think long term
its takes years to make a good game...
people thought the Wii was a fad when it was first released, devs didnt really pay attention to it... now they notice and are developing games for it, but you need to be patient.
you will definately see more backing from 3rd party devs next gen for Nintendo
