Nobody ever seems to bring up how good PopCap, myself included.

Well, since BO just came out, I'd say Treyarch (at least for its CoD games). The games were solid, and from what I can see, people only complained about them since they weren't as good as Infinity Ward. Doesn't mean that they were a horrible developer.
I would have said From Software before Demon Souls or Irrational before Bioshock (it is amazing how one game all of asudden puts these companies on the map when they were talented well before these games even released... how many of you knew Bioware back when they were developing MDK 2?) as I always thought they were fantastic developers, however I personally think Obsidian takes the cake now. They make good if not great games, have great talent behind them, and yet all people ever see from them is "OMG Game is so buggy its crap!" You know what? IF a developer has poor time management, so long as they make up for it post release, I don't see the problem.gamer620when the game stops being enjoyable because they forgot to hire testers, it's an issue. people having to reset their saves (or even losing them because the save would require a nonexistent DLC) because of glitches is a big deal.
They need to update the iphone version of plan vs zombies withretina display. Other than that they are great.

I have never once had any game breaking bugs in any obsidian title i've played (haven't played AP so i can't comment on that, but Kotor 2, NWN2 I HAVE played) Point is, the company puts together a great game marred by flaws that get ironed out post release and when their games are working properly, they are fantastic.
GSC Game World is my pick. The STALKER games are incredible and no one cares about them here because they're PC exclusives.

I will have to go with Atlus. It seems most people want to look them over since most of their games are too Japanese styled. I've begun to take more interest in a game if it has the name Atlus on it nowadays.

Speaking of Atlus, when the heck are we going to get some more info on Catherine?

I think someone made a thread about new info, but I'm not sure if that's new info for those following the game.Platinum Games. Bayonetta and Vanquish don't get enough love here

This is the first dev that came to mind whe I read the topic title. Even beyond Bayonetta and Vanquish they have Madworld a great game that didn't really get much of an audience because it was exclusive to the Wii. Most of the people at Platinum also worked on Okami and Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2 back when there were working for Capcom at Clover Studios.
If you can say anything about Platinum is that they know how to make hyper stylized and eye-catching games.

Ragnarok1051
i have to go with this.
They did some amazing stuff for the JRPG genre, its one of the few great companies left when it comes to RPGs in general.

easily lionhead, but only on this board. The average consumer actually seems to show them the respect they deserve via sales. While they arent technical wizards like an ID software... their games ooze creativity and charm.
GSC Gameworld without a doubt imo. Now that S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 might go to consoles they might get the respect they deserve.
Any dev that isn't Valve, Blizzard or Nintendo generally receives an unwarranted amount of disrespect around here.
vashkey
lol, this is probably true. Especially valve.
Obsidian. On a paranoid day, I think that Bethesda deliberately did'nt do proper QA to make themselves look better.
Yeah, that's paranoia but Obsisidan always seem to be rushed. I mean they needed less than a month to fix the game and during the wait, modders managed to sort the framerate issues somewhat by thesemlves.
Paradox Interactive. Europa Universalis 3 is just brilliant. And Victoria 2 is great aswell. I also have to menion Tripwire, I have enjoyed all of their games to date.
