Microsoft is currently in the lead with 17.7m 360's sold, but Nintendo is quickly catching up with 13.5m. Sony is lagging behind with 7.2m, but Sony executives say that by 2010,2011, the tides will have turned. Microsoft seems to have given its best already with HALO 3 and GoW, but we probly wont see another boost in sales until HALO wars and GoW 2 come out within the next few years. Nintendo seems to have nothing good in its arsenal left after Brawl and Mario Kart Wii come out, but you never know. Sony seems to have the most promising line up for 08 with MGS4, Little Big Planet, Grand Turismo 5, a few more, and then the killer, Resistance 2. But who do you think will come on top?

When all is said and done, I honestly believe the PS3 will sell the most consoles. Once that thing gets down to a mass market price point, it will start selling like hotcakes.

I'd say the Wii will be on top. Doesn't mean I have to like it or buy the console. :D

Wii forsure.

360 will come in a close second because of the price drop they will do this year + it will be years b4 sony catches up after a 1 year head start.

PS3 will come in last, by a bit.

Not bashing SONY, because I believe everyone will sell at least 30 million a piece, a successful gen for everybody. Well not for sony, cause they cant top 125 from PS2 so thats considered a step down.......

the wii and 360 will get the the mass market point well before the PS3 will. ANd when the PS3 becomes a mass market price, the 360 and Wii ***will be even lower***.

So ya, I don't see your logic.

Yeah, because we all know the cheapest always wins. Microsoft and Nintendo don't have the fanbase that Sony does, nor do they have BD drives in their systems or 100+ million consoles sold the past 2 generations. Do you see my logic now?

the wii has emerged from "fad" status and is still standingso it will be the winner in terms of sales. of course, if you like 3rd party games as opposed to partygames the other two outclass it completely.

Hm, either way -- this generations winner by purely sales will be the Wii.

Games wise could go either way, 360, Wii, PS3.

Even after a price drop the PS3 fails to outsell the 360 worldwide. When a price drop happens there is suppose to be a surge of prices followed by a increased number then what they had before. That surge wasn't even above normal 360 sales. Microsoft can afford to drop their price alot more then the PS3 can.

The Playstation brand won't save the PS3. The NES and SNES sold well so according to that line of reasoning the N64 should of beaten the Playstation but it didn't. Even Ocarina of Time and Mario 64 couldn't save the N64. What makes the Sony fanbase think the games they are getting in 2008 will.

It will probably continue to be Wii>360>PS3 for the rest of this generation.

Nintendo's console is 150 dollars cheaper than the cheapest PS3 and 100 dollars cheaper than the average form of Xbox 360....combine that with its family friendly marketing campaign its blantly obvious they are going to have bigger sales numbers speciallyamongnon-gamers(soccer moms, elderly, little kids etc).

So you really believe that the 100+ million people that bought the last 2 Playstations won't even buy one when the price drops to $199?

Honestly, how can you call little kids NON gamers... They are the future of gamers, as for the elderly... they are the history of gaming. My parents want a Wii. They are in their early 50's, they were gamers before home consoles were huge.. back when Atari was still a industry giant. Whats sad, is everyone says most Wii owners are really young, really old, or whatnot.. Most Wii owners I know of or see everyday are around my age + or - 5 to 10 years.. which, in case you can't add or I didn't say.. I'm 27.. so that would be between 17 to 37.

Microsoft has Gears, not God of War lol

And we have Banjo Threeie coming. a HUGE platformer franchise. Not that many people seem to care :|

But I think Nintendo will win. Followed by the 360. Playstation 3 will be close behind though.

I'm sorry but all who say the Wii will come out on top over the long run, your all mistaken. The Wii is a temporary console that in a few years won't have the graphics capabilities of the Ps3 or even the xbox 360. Microsoft is losing Millions, no wait, better make that Billions of dollars a year because of the Xbox 360. In a year the PS3 will begin to outsell its competitors because the Wii and xbox just won't have thee raw power to even make the simplest of the PS3's animations. Its not that I don't like the Wii and Xbox 360. I just like the PS3 better.

The ps3 is 150 dollars more expensive because:

1. Its 150 dollars better. And:

2. It contains a Blu ray player. Something which costs almost a thousand dollars anyway!
