Who else didn't like the mocking Sony add?

So we've all seen it since its on the front page of this site and I think its completly tastless on Sony's part.

They completly copied the Wiimote then the next week make fun of it. That seems but much. I loved all the other Kevin Butler PS3 adds and though they were hilarious. More respect should have been shown by Sony to Nintedno since well they were sooooooo creative with the move

Sony can do what they want, because the fact is it actually reaches the masses. As long as they continue to provide for us gamers, then let them put on their casual show. Other than that I think you take this a bit too seriously the ad has mild humor its meant for a few kicks.

It wasnt a bad add, I just didnt think it was amusing.

I am used to Sony being arrogant at this point since that is just how Sony is as a company. It is kinda funny and sad at the same time though since they were so far ahead last 2 gens and so far behind this gen all they have left is to try and make fun of everyone ahead of them. Really what are they going to do and brag about how inventive they were considering they completely ripped off NinetendoSilentlyMad

Well considering Sony was ahead of Nintendo with DVDs, memory cards, online gaming, HD movies, HD gaming, and now they're making 3D TVs and gaming and Nintendo lags behind and slowly copies all those things, it's about time Nintendo come up with something that Sony can copy. Then figure in the PS3 exists because Nintendo went to Sony and talked them into making a console with them called the Nintendo Playstation that had a DVD drive and a cartridge. Then Nintendo backed out because they gave Sony more control then they should have and freaked out. Nintendo fans have no one to blame for Sony's Playstation being around except Nintendo. They started it and now they have to live with it.

i thought it was funny, but sad that sony has to make fun of wii and natal, they probably know natal is gonna be good cuz why else would they make a commercial making fun of it like so many months away from release?? lol and I doubt MS or nintendo will make a commercial back at sony for this, they dont need to drop to that low of a level to get sales.Bangerman15

It was a fun commercial with no hard feelings and im sure Nintendo knows that. As far as the whole riping off the wii mote KB "come on" they are improving the technology.

I liked the ad a lot

I find companies that bash their competitors in advertisements to be crude and distasteful. It smacks of desperation and ill-will to bash your competitors. Companies should market their products by expressing the positive advantages that they provide and should avoid negative statements about competitors. If your marketing strategy is to talk negatively about the competition, then that just shows that you have nothing positive to say about your own product. I avoid purchasing products from companies that engage in negative advertising. If a company's best marketing strategy is to launch negative attacks against others, then that tells me that the company is worthless and not an entity with which I would want to do business. This is what ads do in the mainstream market. Just look at Apple vs PC commercials.

It's not necessarily a last place trick. It's simply a marketing dynamic used to play themselves up. I wouldn't say it's synonymous with a losing company, but it is designed to downplay what the "opposition" offers.

Are people surprised that in a COMMERCIAL one company would take a shot at another?? But honestly this is the best way to pull it off, it wasn't mean, it was funny and yes they copied the Wii and improved on their formula so they can talk up their product. I mean what do people expect Sony to do, make a commercial where they advertise for the Wii?! If you laugh at ANY comedy you are laughing as someone's expense. Usually its about politics, race, background, gender, disabilities etc.. but you are laughing at someone's expense so enjoy this for what it was a comedic way for a company to advertise their product over the competition.Javy03

need i say more...its the way advertising works its designed to get people talking about it deal with it.Its just a diffrent method and in a sense a more viral one in this day and age a powerful tool as its generating talk about the ad which leads to product exposure.And yes i plan on doing Product design at Uni after i finish my CaD course.

you didnt prove anything you told me something that i really dont know what your talking about i want a link or something.it has better tech i would give it that(and not everybody even believes that)but how the hell is it better when its not even out yet but"alpha"demonstrations

The commercial is hilarious and the campaign is exactly what Sony should be doing. It's not arrogant at all. If Kevin Butler was a serious spokesman, then it would be arrogant. All he's doing is taking light hearted pot shots at the competitors. It's all good.

In fact, Sony BETTER have that dude on stage or video at E3 at some point in their conference. Make it happen. Now.
