After playing PC and games at high res (1920x1200) and top graphics i find it hard to play 95% of console games, excluding the few like Killzone 2, Gears 2, etc.

Example: I was replaying Crysis for a while, and a day later i played GTA4 on PS3 and it just seemed painful to play, the slow down in FPS when things blew up, the low res textures, like NO AA.

Anyone else experience this?

As someone who doesn't really care about graphics (I still find myself more than capable of giving games like System Shock 2 nice run-throughs), I can say that I have yet to experience the feeling of which you speak.

Hmmm depends on the game. I remember at one point I went back to Uncharted and was pretty "meh", but after I took a break from PC gaming for a couple weeks, it went back up to "excellent".

Stop thinking graphics makes a game playable, because clearly it doesn't.

hmm, some classic games are always worth playing dont get me wrong i'll fire up the good ol SNES once and a while, but im talking about games this gen, like PC seems SOOOO far ahead of consoles this gen, like a much bigger gap then previous gens. Like when i played the Red Faction Guerilla demo on my PS3 i was so underwhelmed, i couldnt take hte low res rextures and slowdowns

The FPS is what kills me this gen. Its not as noticeable in the PS2 games I play but if I pop in LBP after playing something that was running at 50+ FPS on my rig it bothers me.

FPS matters on gameplay, example in GTA PC u can blow up a mass of cars with no slow down, and on PS3 it has a pretty big slow down (im not just talking graphics)

Its not graphics, its the frame rate which has a lot more to do with optimization, coding, and hardware than it has to do with how the game actually looks.

frame rates does, but in your top post you were talking about resolutions and textures. Personally I'd rather play a well-optimized game at no slowdown at the cost of pretty effects rather than one that doesn't. Years of both PC and console gaming have given me this mentality lol.

well i still take it all in, but its just looking so much better and playign at a much higher FPS on PC. Liek i said in the post games like Killzone 2 and Gears 2 are good, because they are well optimized and still look pretty good (not to mention are actually fun)

In my opinion, some games (like action adventure) play better on a console than a PC, so no, the graphics don't have that much of an effect on me, not like you were describing.

So you've never been annoyed about slow downs or any of that? (Im not just talking about graphics) Example UT3 on PS3 runs at like 30fps, and on my PC it runs 100+ FPS...

That is not what you asked. You asked who else found it hard to play 95% of console games after playing Crysis on high res. Sure, slowdown is annoying, as are most technical issues, but in very few instances has it actually degraded a game for me, from the Intellivision on up for me.

PC gaming has kind of spoiled me. But I'll still play bad looking games as long as their fun. Most console games I go, "Boy, these graphics could be so much better if it were on PC..." I can still enjoy a number of them though. :P

My family had the Intellivision. Since I was born in 84, I did not have much say in what systems I played until about 1994 (10 years old or so when I would walk to Funcoland with my allowance) or so. Before that, it was what my parents or brothers played.

nope. i happily go from PS1 to PS2 to DS (2d and 3d) to wii to 360 and PS3 and up to PC. doesent bother me in the slightest. oh, nes and snes era games are also fine. if its a good game and interests me then i will play it regardless of graphics or platform.

I don't look at it this way, a good game is good regardless of the graphics. I still play PS2 games, I'm even playing braid on PC although it is nothing special when it comes to graphics. I didn't experience this feeling and I won't as I am a hardcore gamer :)

I don't even find it hard to play my old Xbox on my old 25" standard def TV.

I mean I love high resolution monitors and great graphics, but it doesn't bother me going back and playing old games or games on the 360. I think my HDTV and my 360 are a great pairing. All of the games look really good. It only gets me upset when a game this gen looks like it should have come out last gen.

Well, I sure wouldn't buy GTA twice, OR buy it on the PS3.

I also just wouldn't buy GTA in general since that series is so boring.

I don't like slowdown, but all the times I've ever experienced it it's never been the end of the world. Sometimes it adds to gameplay sort of like some slow motion type of thing :P

But no. Only real time I've ever experienced slowdown that made a game unplayable has been on my computer. Not on consoles....yet.

Sorry you can play inferior console games with massive FPS drops while i play higer rez with no FPS drops on my PC... seriously its hard to have fun when you get to a good part in the action and the game slows down to a stop, pft you clearly didnt understand my post, like i said its not only visual gra[hics.

COD4 has massive slowdowns online, and offline, like when you call for an airstrike and look at the explosion (PS3 version), many console games suffer from slowdowns, even with the low res textures, and the low resolution.

by today's standards, certainly. however, try to put yourself in 1972. at the time, there was nothing else like that. heck, i'm not that old, but as a kid i gamed on the 2600. i thought Pitfall's graphics were amazing ;)

Nah, I'm alright as long as I'm not too close to my TV. Don't get me wrong, I'd still kill for decent MSAA and AF in console games...but I can survive without it.

[QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"] My family had the Intellivision. Since I was born in 84, I did not have much say in what systems I played until about 1994 (10 years old or so when I would walk to Funcoland with my allowance) or so. Before that, it was what my parents or brothers played.

well i'm only 20 so i haven't played the intellivision so i'm more of a graphics whore then you, i started on the snes when my brother got it. The odyssey just looks plain bad though, i doubt anybody would like it.

by today's standards, certainly. however, try to put yourself in 1972. at the time, there was nothing else like that. heck, i'm not that old, but as a kid i gamed on the 2600. i thought Pitfall's graphics were amazing ;)

lol, i remeber Pit Fall...

Nah, I'm alright as long as I'm not too close to my TV. Don't get me wrong, I'd still kill for decent MSAA and AF in console games...but I can survive without it.

Fair enough.

Not at all. For example, I've been playing Crysis: Warhead and then Persona 4 and it doesn't bother me.

nto as much as games that work well for the console, but i thik more of multiplat wise, or games that push teh console. like what i was saying wiht my GTA4 example.

For games that push the console, I could say GTAIV and MGS4 are examples and their performance doesn't bother me at all. If that's the main issue (although that's not what your original post indicated), I would say that there are far more than 5% of console games that work well for the console.

Not me. Graphics don't interest me in the slightest. If a game is fun, I have no problem playing it.

So you only care about graphics.Gotcha.

I, on the other hand, can enjoy a good game regardless of how it looks.

Well, that's not a fair comparison, try playing GTA4 on your PC at 1920x1200 at 60fps, really a PC that can do that would cost at least $800 to someone who's not an expert at building PC's. And that goes double for crysis
