I would never buy a system for just 1 game.JayPee89/same thats the dumbest reason ever, funny thing every 360 owner is guilty of this, when they bought a 360 at launch there was questions what franchises would come on it, lucky now we know alot but at the time 360 owners were thinking about 1 game.
In the short term...sure. I bought 360 when Bioshock came out. Didn't get another game until Halo 3. I bought a PS3 at launch for Resistance and the game lasted me until the middle of summer when I bought The Darkness.
I bought Sega 32x (it was essentially an add on) for Virtua Fighter
I bought N64 for probably half a dozen games.

360 has higher software sale attach rate than the wii and ps3 combined.

Uh no. I bought mine at launch and had plenty of games I was interested in.
I bought a GC specifically because I wanted to play Pikmin really bad.
I bought the GBA because of Advanced Wars.
I bought a PS2 for GTAIII.
I bought the original Xbox at launch for Halo.
I bought the Wii at launch for Zelda.
I bought my PS3 for Resistance.
I bought the 360 for PGR3.
PSP for Metal Gear Acid (ooops!)
DS for Nintendogs.
The thing, for me, about buying a system to play a specific game is that I know darn well each system will eventually have many other games released that I will want to play. It just happens that the games I listed are the first game for each system that I wanted to play bad enough to buy one. So no, I haven't really bought ANY systems for only one game. I am buying for one game and potential for more. I knew of other specific games that would come out for each console that I would eventually get as well.
I would normally go over and play the PS2 at a friends place, but when God of War came out...I went out and bought a PS2 for like $99..
It's the only reason I bought it lol.....
other than that, even if you buy a system for one single game, you'll still end up playing other games so I can't honestly say that I just bought it for GOW only as I use it for other PS2 games as well.

that has nothing to do with nothing. there so many games for Wii and PS3 so early it doesn't shock me. think of it more games low the attach rate is gonna be, PS3 and Wii been out only 1 year and there getting flooded with titles. I wouldn't doubt if in the same periods of times Sony and Nintendo released more than what the 360 had in it's first year.I bought my 360 a few months ago in anticipation for Mass Effect

wow no offense but that's not too smart
i would buy a psp for 3 games because one of those games would last me forever
and i would buy a wii for brawl if that weren't the only worthwile game on it

Bought an Xbox for Halo:CE.... played it at a friend's and just HAD to own it. Man I loved that game. Played some campaign levels well over 100 times. Multiplayer Lan regularly for years. Halo2 was such a massive dissapointment. Such trash compared to the first.
Everything else I've just bought for all the great games on it. PS2 for GTA3, MGS2, FFX. GC for Zelda/Metroid/Mario. Still undecided on 360..... played through Halo3 and meh. That system is ridiculously overrated.
i bought a 360 for halo 3 (but play a lot more games now)
brought a xbox SOLELY for halo 1
brought a ps3 for Lair and hs don't remember which (I was dissapointed because lair is cluncky and hs not the quality of prince of persia, ng, GOW as well as it is short; this dissapointment lasted untill i played warhawk which lasted me only a month. Now i am waiting for MGS4 to take me away)
Bought a 360 for Oblivion, halo 3 and gears of war.
But more for Oblivion, didnt want to spend 3000 CDN just to play it.

I bought an xbox for ninja gaiden and halo.
Bought my xbox 360 for gears of war and halo 3.
I bought my ps3 for games I know that we will never see on an xbox 360 and because the ps3 will just have tons of different type games u will never find on an xbox 360.
I would have bought a wii, but alot of people I know who have owned one, are now getting bored of it, so I dont know or should I get one or not, but ive always been a big fan of all the mario and zelda games so I think ill get one anyways down the line.
Your question is a little misleading. One game might be the catalyst for someone buying a system, but it's not like that one game is the only thingthey'llend up buying/playing.
I buy Nintendo consoles for the Zelda series, that's it. Not saying I don't buy other games but if it wasn't for Zelda I wouldn't buy one.
I won a 360 with 10 games, I was going to sell it until I looked at Too human and 2 other RPGs. So yeah, sometimes I will, like a PSP i'm getting for the FFVII game.

well mostly there's going to be more games that interest you, even if you buy the console for just one game.. so it's not really that dumb..

cvmnJesus_basic
thats not what i meant, what i meant was you would not of bought the system if not for "this game"- not to say you arent going to play alot of other games, but if "that game" didnt come out you would have never bought it
