I enjoyed the first Lost Planet. It had its fair amount of flaws, but I found the experience quite enjoyable overall. So naturally, I was excited for Lost Planet 2. The screens and gameplay vids looked great. Nice and slick visuals. And I was hoping for slicker animations and gameplay, too. Sadly, I booted up the demo and was presented with a long and tedious boss fight that wasn't in the least bit compelling to fight. It almost felt like I was playing Monster Hunter. Unlike the first game, which felt expansive for the most part (like the worm), this boss battle felt like it was shoved into a rather meh arena atmosphere littered with pick-ups. The focus away from narrative and more toward Monster Hunter-styIe co-op gameplay has left a lot to be desired, imo. And the gameplay feels nearly identical. I'll admit, it was cool getting eaten up by the creature and sliding through the insides of his body, but other than that, I don't see many good things about Lost Planet 2. Consider this one a disappointment.

Yeah. I liked everything about the actual gameplay mechanics (it's Lost Planet, afterall), but like Resident Evil 5, the co-op here seems so forced and against the point of the game. And having respawns during a singleplayer game? What is that crap?

ima big fan of the original but the demo for this one isnt very good. and the graphics dont look nearly as good as the videos made it seem. plus the control still fills stiff and it has that same cheap as game play mechanic where the monster hits you (or near you) and you stumble to the ground. im not gonna judge the game by the demo, but im looking forward to it a lot less now.

Yea I thought it was great. Me and 2 friends were flying around in Mechs having a great time. I like how you can grab onto the side of one if all the turrets are full. I like the 3 person Mech, that and the one that runs like Optimus Prime. Most of them hover, which is fun. Easy to dodge the boss in them. Very cool, especially the improvement of the controls. Love it. Much faster and more responsive. I'll buy it. I was a fan of the first one.

I agree the graphics look no where near as good as they made it seem with the announcement trailor. Gameplay didn't seem as fun as Lost Planet 1 to me. I'll be passing this one up.

i was disapointed. when playing the game it felt like i was playing a multiplayer match kind of like horde or Resistance 2 coop, you damage the giant enemy thingy and get points, it doesnt have that proper campaign feel to it. i would prefera proper single player campaign like in Lost Planet1 over this. if you want to make a coop game, make it like gears of war coop which is proper story campaign

You can tell a lot of work went into the presentation of it. That thing is like a proper Starship Troopers boss and animates freakishly well. The whole game seems to be like that really. All very solid work. But I have no interest whatsoever in playing this game. For some reason it's offputting to me how obviously choreographed and multiplayer arena-ish it is. I didn't read your post until having written this, but it seems like we're having the same issue with the demo.

I'm also a bit shootered out at the moment, so there's that too.

I liked shooting the GIANT ENEMY CRAB but not enought for me to buy it at full retail price, once it goes down to 30$ I'll strike.

I found it fun. Would've preferred a proper multiplayer demo tho, as i think that was lost planets strong point, not its single player.

Havent played it yet but thats some of the things i was worried about.

The thing i loved about the original is that you were all alone in these VAST snowy areas with huge ass monsters popping out of no where (like the worm). I also enjoyed the story and with how it ended, would have loved to see a continuation of it. But now it seems that they have gotten rid of the snow (which is probably the most underused element in gaming) changed the lone gameplay to squad based and boxed the environments.

Im dissapointed in this regard as the other game did give me a little metroid feeling. Im still going to try it and will probably get it due to being a lost planet fan but im just not like how they changed the essance of what made LP1 so unique into a rainbow six vegas ish gameplay.

Oh well, i'd still rather get this than Dead Rising 2 in a million years. You hear that SolidTY a Lost Planet fan right here.

I thought it was great. Graphics was gorgeous, though I agree they looked better on videos (that's because ther were footage from PC), but the gameplay really won me over. I played alone against that huge monster and I gotta say I just loved the feeling of taking it down alone. I know there were some bots but they all died and dissapeared. I'm def. interested in this game, but I might pick it up for PC instead.

I had fun playing the demo. I don't have my hopes up though since I didn't care to much for the first title. In the case of LP2 it will most likely be a rental.

There was respawns in the first Lost Planet. You had to destroy the spawning pods. Did you even play the first Lost Planet?

I'm not a huge capcom person either. They do do some strange and original things though. But the control and whats going on is always very wonky. RE, Lost planet, Dead Rising all good games this gen don't get me wrong and they are impressive but i also don't really get into them too much for whatever reason.

I agree, the demo felt meh to me, and I even love monster hunter! after playing through it once I just kinda silently deleted it and walked away shaking my head. I hope the actual game is better.

DidI play the same level as everyone else? I fought that salamander thing from the E3 demo. Anyway, I like it, thought it was fun and entertaining. I really would rather play it with different controls though. I didn't like them much. It was fun as hell though.

I found the demo to be quite fun. While the lighting in the demo wasn't as good as that photo, I thought the graphics were great better than Gears 2. Especially for an online 4 player co-op demo. The controls felt good (can't compare. Never played the first.) and I found myself wanting to rebattle the boss over and over to try out different tactics. I don't know if I'll buy the game, but it did seem fun.
