I enjoyed the first Lost Planet. It had its fair amount of flaws, but I found the experience quite enjoyable overall. So naturally, I was excited for Lost Planet 2. The screens and gameplay vids looked great. Nice and slick visuals. And I was hoping for slicker animations and gameplay, too. Sadly, I booted up the demo and was presented with a long and tedious boss fight that wasn't in the least bit compelling to fight. It almost felt like I was playing Monster Hunter. Unlike the first game, which felt expansive for the most part (like the worm), this boss battle felt like it was shoved into a rather meh arena atmosphere littered with pick-ups. The focus away from narrative and more toward Monster Hunter-styIe co-op gameplay has left a lot to be desired, imo. And the gameplay feels nearly identical. I'll admit, it was cool getting eaten up by the creature and sliding through the insides of his body, but other than that, I don't see many good things about Lost Planet 2. Consider this one a disappointment.
