The second Xbox controller. I've used the Duke before, and it was horrid.

PS2, it was consistently good across all genres minus FPSs. The small xbox pads were great and the GC was adequate but the lack of a second analog in favor the C-stick was a design error IMO, plus the shoulder buttons were the worst of the four controllers.

PS2 easily.

Gamecube didn't even make sense.

Xbox was too fat.

Dreamcast had the cord coming out of the front.

I have big hands, so easily the Xbox (particularly the S, but I found the duke pretty comfortable as well). The GC pad was a little on the small side and came across as too weird for the sake of weird, and I've never been a fan of the DS's analog stick placement or triggers.

The smaller Xbox controller was my favourite console controller of last gen. It fits in my hands perfectly and it's incredibly comfortable to use.

GameCube. I really hate the PS2 (and PS3, since it's the same) controller - the left analog stick is not in the right place. You shouldn't have to awkwardly cock your thumb sideways to use it.

I liked the the xbox controllers (both) because I played tons of DC before it and tons of Saturn before that. I know people say xbox was better for big hands and I have small hands and the PS controller has always been a little too small for me, the analog sticks are just too close and my thumbs knock into each other and before PS had analog the 6 face buttons were always better on sega systems (aside from DC) for capcom fighting games(I've enjoyed every PS system but Sony has never produced my favorite controller in any gen).

wow.

I didn't know that many people liked the original Xbox controller:shock:

I preferred the PS2's Dualshock 2. Gamecube controller a very close 2nd.

Definitely second Xbox controller...still given how bad the first one was I'm not sure I feel justified voting for it. Additionally, the Gamecube controller was real good, but only for certain games and genres. The PS2 controller was the most consistent and solid, but it didn't match the Gamecube when it came to certain areas, and the second Xbox controller was better.

Xbox Controller S.

By far the best ergonomically (even better than the 360 controller) and the triggers were amazing as well.

Always hated the Dualshock. I don't it was the best controller in any generation.

VERY easy to order this one

Best 1) PS2 (versatile, comfortable, not much wrong with it)

2) GC (comfortable, but has a couple small flaws such as an OK d-pad and only one z button)

3) Xbox (awful controllers to start with. They made them a bit better with the small version. 360 is WAAAAY better then the original)

Worst 4) DC (its like holdiing two knifes with a screen in the center. Almost everything about this controller was awful, and it shows since

noone borrows its shape or ideas this gen)

In an easy way to understand it:

PS2 > GCN >>>> Xbox >> DC

The Wavebird was possibly one of, if not the greatest gamepads ever made. The only thing it really lacked was rumble... and even then it was barely noticeable.

Wavebird >> GC gamepad >> Xbox S >> Dreamcast >> Dualshock 2

I've never used a Duke.

--

After using the 360 gamepad and GC gamepad for so long... going back to using a Dualshock is very awkward. My left thumb always feels like it is "stretching" to push the left analogue stick to the right.

Man, Sony has ALWAYS had the best controllers. Why do you think everyone else changes the design every new gen while Sony keeps their's the same?

*waits for some smartass to claim it's because they're not creative enough*

Gamecube controller it was perfect for my hands. The Wavebird took my favorite controller and made it Wireless and got rid of Rumble which is ok because I usually just turn it off anyway.

The gamecube controller was the most confortable because of all of its curves, but the PS2 controller was the most efficient (and that is why it basically hasn't changed in 3 generations :P )

But seriously, I gotta give the PS pad credit for being the most versatile.

SpArKs424

dont you mean the xbox controller looks exactly like the dreamcast controller after all dreamcast did come out 2 years before xbox was released

and ps2 ds best controller

xbox was unplayable with games that required use of all buttons since black and white buttons had horrible placement on both versions of controller

The Dreamcast controller was a **bleep**ing abomination. So was the original Big Bertha Xbox controller. The controller S was pretty comfortable, though whoever placed the white and black buttons was insane. The Dual Shock 2 was functional but boring, and uncomfortable to hold for extended periods of time and had its analog stick in the wrong spot. The ports were also flimsy as hell on the console itself. The Gamecube one was comfortable, had a great trigger concept with analog and digital, but had weird bean buttons, a nipple nub on the right analog stick and the horrific design choice of a single top shoulder button. I guess I'd go with the Dual Shock 3. The S was nearly perfect, and thankfully Microsoft learned from their mistakes when it came time to develop the 360 controller. Unfortunately, Sony learned nothing in the same period of time.

i absolutely hated how the DC's cord came out the bottom and they made you fold it underneath and tuck it into that little pincher thing. so the dc's controller even though it supported those bomb ass memory cards, comes in last place for me. its probably between the ps2 and xbox and i think the ps2 edges it out because of the black and white buttons on the xbox being in an akward position. i never really used the GC's controller enough to really judge it so thats it for me...

PS2. I really disliked the black and white buttons on my xbox pad, and the gamecube controller always felt really cheap to me and I was also always trying to push the sticks in on it.
