I don't own a 360 but my 4 of my friends do and 1 has experienced an RROD. He had his Pro model for just over a year when the RROD happened. That was in 2006 and as far as I know it hasn't happened to the replacement model he got. Another of my friends that own the 360 had a problem where his 360 pro would scratch up discs bad enough they wouldn't work anymore. Since he had that one replaced he has had no problems, that was in 2007.

Luckily, I haven't gotten RRoD yet, knock on wood.
Once during large thunderstorm when there was a power surge, it has never been detrimental to my system though. I have however sent my 360 in for Freezing and DREs on multiple occasions. the whole RRoD is far overblown if you ask me.
ive had a rrod and the 360 that they were using at the halo 3 midnight launch got a "joke" rrod (only lasted for like a minute), there not that pleasent, but nothing you can really do about it
It's odd, my 2 closest friends both have had RROD'd 360's. My one friend had it happen to him once or twice, and then the next unit fried his HDD (he lost his almost full Oblivion game!), and now (starting a few months ago) the unit he's had since then (for a good year or so) has been acting up on him, gave him the blinking lights (used to do that often, but not so much anymore) and then, just about a month and a half ago, it scratched his COD4 disc, making him buy a new one... not to mention the thing makes so many wierd noises, I swear it's going to implode on him any minute.
Needless to say, it's no wonder I don't want one really. I know people have had much more positive results from the 360, but every one i've seen is either an elite, or has broken. And even the elites have slight problems.
and it's not like i don't like the system. there are a few games i'm interested in. I just don't like how Microsoft handles its self, and the problems the 360 has. And the 360 has a LOT of problems. But i'll spare you the list.
TLDR, I don't know anyone in person who's 360 hasn't RROD'd, or had at least some kind of problem for them at least once.
i got it twice but soon as i turned it off and back on it worked fine and i never had to send it in and i havent gotten RROD since i think september 07
3 times since launch, but it never took them more than a week to fix it. Unfortunately the 2nd time was right after the launch of Halo3 so I had to wait to play it online while my friends were ranking up. Also 75% of my Friends list has had it at leastonce. It happens but like I said at least they fixed it. Other than the first time was before the warranty extension and they wanted to charge me $130 but I just waited 3 months and then they extended it.
My 360 has RROD'd on me. Microsoft sent me a brand new model. While it was gone I dusted off my PS2 and played some shadow of the coll., DMC3, Jak X, Jak II, Ratchet: DL, etc.
Every single ps3 fanboy who doesn't have an xbox, has seein his 360 RRoD eleventeen times.
Seriously though, I've had it twice on my launch 360. Been working like a charm for closing on a year now, though.

That is quite the exaggeration. Not every PS3 fanboy, and not "eleventeen times". I seriously have seen it happen. My friends current one was doing the red rings where they blink or whatever (the one that isn't permanent), but he somehow fixed that i guess (or at least, I haven't seen it happen recently), but since it stopped doing that, it left a nice ring around his COD4 CD. (it was actually 2 "crecent" shaped half-circles on different parts of the disc, but yeah).
So I'm not just blowing smoke. It's not like I'm trying to cause some kind of negative spin that isn't already there, just helping to confirm the 360 has some clear hardware issues. Outside of that, I've had many a weekend spent at my friends house playing Halo 3 with 5 or 6 other people via 360 LAN party. And there was the time I made a character in Oblivion that looked almost exactly like me IRL. (I don't own Oblivion for my PS3 because I have already played it on my friends 360).
Either way, long story short, 360 hardware is garbage. PS3 needs better online and more blockbuster titles like MGS4, and the wii.. .. *snicker*... wii...
