This new gen of gaming has brought jaw dropping graphics, complicated story lines, and magnificent online play abilities! The ironic thing is, I once in a while take out my N64 and still have a good time with it, and many others have as well. Maybe it is possible to say that the N64 is probably the most succesful system of all time, for even today with the three revolutionary systems people can love and enjoy nintendo's past creation. Who else here still finds themselves playing the N64 now and again?
It's classic. I grew up on N64 (and NES)... kinda cool to go back and play MK64, SM64, B-K, Rayman 2, DK64, Mega Man 64, Kirby 64, SSB, DKR, Pokemon Stadium, Paper Mario, etc.
I still play StarFox, Perfect Dark and Jet Force Gemini. Those challenges (PD) were like early achievements and i'm still upset that I can't beat DarkSims. Every now and then I play it and get back to being really good... only to realize why I gave up and stopped trying to beat those damn things. They get frickin head shots with unscoped pistols from like a football field away. You can't possibly beat that.
Games like that and the success of the virtual console and XBLA are still a bright spot for the industry. There are gamers out there who still value gameplay over everything else.
I do, but as soon as my Library appears in its entirety on the Wii Virtual Console I plan onselling it with the games. I'm not a collector so the cartridges don't really matter to me, just the games that are on them.
The N64 is an amazing console, I don't really play it that much anymore though, because its not plugged in, but its one of my highest rated consoles ever.
I'm playing Majora's Mask now, on the Wii (GameCube Bonus Disc). I may play LOD OoT Master Quest as well at some point (also bonus Disc).
its great now too look back at the N64, but at the time owning 1 was a nightmare. just like with the wii the 1st party stuff was a fantastic, but their was long gaps between releases and apart from a few rare exceptions the 3rd party stuff was gash
