I think you'll find devs still finding ways to do clever stuff on it but we're on second almost third gen on the 360 and I am not sure it'll get much better. However, I don't think you'll get better than KZ2 on the PS3 either.
I think both consoles are using all of their power already, but that doesn't mean that games cannot be better optimized for them to run better with nicer graphics. It's all about design and optimization. Xbox 360 and any console can get better optimized games, even though increases are marginal.
Considering the hardware, they were likely 'maxed out', as you put it, with the first games. As developers find niftier tricks, however, things look markedly nicer (for instance, look at KZ2), even if sacrifices are being made with textures and such.
I dunno. I think that Gears 2 has set the bar pretty high for 360 games. I would be surprised if anything could look much better, similiar to how I feel about KZ2 on PS3 (let's hope GoW III can change my mind:D)

well 360 coudlnt have been maxed cause developers were only using 1 out of the 3 cores so i dont think it was MAXED out yet
no, there is still power in them. look at perfect dark zero and look at a game like gears, codwaw, any new game that just came out. (not bashing perfect dark i'm just saying that the launch games have lower graphics quality then newer games that r out.

i recently bought a 360 ( ps3 owner) with gears 2 and i gotta say that the game looks AWESOME!!, if the 360 is indeed maxed out as you say, then it will be easier for developers to make games with great graphics, since it wont be that difficult any more.

Agreed. Games are still coming out that look great. I think 360 could DEF handle KZ2's graphics cause to me while KZ2's graphics are nice it isn't anything I haven't already seen in some form or fashion in games on 360.

The fact that, even tho its a bad attempt at flaming or whatever, your making a typing error that totally destroys the purpose and the interpretation of your thread. When it says Thanking, who should we thank, why thank them, what have they done for us? When you type Think then it might start a discussion. He isnt being nit picky, he's just decifering a topic that otherwise wouldnt make any sense. You should thank him for it, instead of bashing him.
I think both PS3 and X360 have a lot more potential, it's all up to the developers to tweak, tweak and tweak some more to find those perfect efficiencies in the programming. Of course this all takes time to do and producers seem to want to rush games to the market asap to please the masses, so we don't get to see that kind of evolution very quickly. If sony, M$ and Nintendo would just take a moment to take this into consideration and quit putting out a new gen console every 3-5 years then maybe we could see more power through the software rather than exploiting the hardware.
Then again we live in a capatalist consumer driven economy so thats the way it goes.

No. But close. As is the PS3. I don't think games will get too much better looking than Killzone 2 and Gears 2 on these consoles. Maybe God of War 3 and Gears 3 will raise the bar yet again when they come out.
A console does not max out after 3 years. As for it handling Killzone 2- I don't know, I'm not a developer. Maybe it couldn't, then again maybe it could handle it even better than the PS3.
