Who here thinkgs that MS movie game, Gears of War 5 will beat Death Stranding when it comes to reviews.

It's hard to say because Death Stranding is a mysterious new IP , so it could go either way. Now Gears 5 vs. The Last of Part II , I'd bet on the Naughty Gods.

Who cares... I would rather cleanse my face with a cheese grater than suffer through either of these games.

The problem with this poll is that the Gears franchise is well known for excellent gameplay whereas DS is a bit vague as to what you do gameplay wise. It doesn’t make much sense pitting them against each other. Also, Gears is a beloved multiplayer experience. Will there even be any mp in DS?

The unknown could be great for death stranding. Gears 5 will be an 85 metacritic I just feel the series is becoming stale.

Dunno mate, Gears looks like it could be fun. Death stranding looks....uh....well, you walk a lot. And there's a baby in a bag. Oh and that guy from the zombie series.

Gears 5 vs Death Stranding? Never came to my mind at all. Since Death Stranding isn't out yet and we all know what Gears is all about, I'd say this isn't a fair comparison.

Lucky for me, I'll be playing Gears 5 through Game Pass on PC and I'm also looking forward to playing Death Stranding this November myself.

Don’t know, don’t really care. I played some of the Gears of War tech test yesterday and will play more this weekend. The game looks, sounds, and plays great. I love it and am super hyped for the full game come September 10th, can’t wait. ?

as a fan of the original gears trilogy i couldn't be less interested in the plot or characters in gears 5. looks as uninteresting as its predecessor did even though they've brought marcus fenix back. not convinced by the enemy design either. i tolerated judgement but gears 4 was just poor. even gamespot who are usually pretty lenient were a bit reserved in their gears 4 review (7). i have little to no idea wtf death stranding is but i would go all in on it scoring higher

Game journalists are not going to slam Death Stranding. They love Kojima and this game looks like a homerun.

Gears 5 is going to suck hard.

Gears 1-3 were legit great games. Judgement and 4 sucked. Gears 5 looks just as bad. No innovation.

Death Stranding looks like a Fed EX simulator and Gears 5 looks generic AF.

Hideo Kojima got a massive free pass with Metal Gear Solid 4, and many reviews are simply fanbios in disguise who lack any objectivity.

On the other hand, Gears Of War has a swong woman, and many reviewers are progressive propaganda simply using it as a platform to push their ideologies.

Couple this with Hideo Kojima being in no uncertain terms, a sexist dinosaur, it may ultimately work against him if it has similar content to his other games.

lol a poll basically saying do you prefer Gears 5 which is movie game poison against the excellent Death Stranding which nobody knows a damned thing about.

I'll give you my take on it. I love the Gears franchise they are all excellent games. I have no clue whatsoever what Death Stranding even is. So I'll take Gears 5 in a heartbeat over whatever Death Stranding may or may not be. Hope that helps.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was amazing. I played it back in 2009 or 10 i dont remember--around the time the ps3 slim came out. Anyways it was hyped up beyond belief. I was pleasently surprised. Played great and i dug how the areas were more akin to "levels" even though it sort of goes over the players head. The open ended nature of its play was also great.

Its a way better game than snake eater, even though maybe cinematically its not structured as tight as that one.

The last act of 4 though was ace.

Still havent played 5. Kiefer Sutherland as snake just killed the character imo. I bought the prologue thing and it wasnt the same.

Theres a few ps4 games i kind of want to try--death stranding being one of them--but then id have to go get the console out of lending.

Death Stranding is going to be a movie game. That is one thing everyone knows for certain.

Not sure why you'd compare these two games.

But anyway, yeah. Gears sucks. It's a dead franchise and Gears 5 is definitely going to flop, just like 4.

DS, on the other hand, will be another highly rated outstanding addition to the already outstanding PS4 library.

Gears 5 could be a better game than Death Stranding, but even if that were the case it would never get better reviews.

I suspect Death Stranding will succeed on it's laurels but that it would be such a niche game that it won't be nearly as popular.

If a pos like MGS V gets 10/10s just because it was a Kojima game, then it's mathematically impossible for Gears to beat Death Stranding.

Never played Gears of war but arent they crappy third person cover shooters where you regenerate health like in Uncharted?

Also seems silly to pass judgement on Death Stranding when so little is known about it.

That wouldn't be so bad imo. TLG got 9/10 at Gamespot , 82 at Metacritic , 5th most GOTY wins in 2016 , and had numerous nominations (and some wins) in narrative , adventure , soundtrack , artistic graphics , sound design , character , PS4 game.

TLG is still in my top 5 for PS4 games.

Gamepass £1 for gears 5,so it could suck harder than Elton John on his wedding night and I’ll not feel robbed because the multiplayer looks decent

@Nike_Air: It will go down as one of the biggest flops in history. Yes, the critics loved it, but sales were disastrous for a game that took 12 years to make. Just over a million, which is poor enough for a quickly made budget title.

Never again has a developer been given so much time. Shame, because the scale of it was impressive.

Well , they weren't a big team and they weren't going super hard on development the whole time due to some of the development issues , change of platform , and Ueda wanting to break off and do his own thing. Japan Studio worked on and released numerous games during that time. Those games had priority at times. Shu Yoshida said the game's budget wasn't as big as people think. It's not like Sony's big games.

And besides , not every gme greenlit by Sony is expected to be a big profit game. They want to throw in some variety to appeal to different groups of people.
