I seriously think that Nintendo's first year alone is going to help them a lot. Think with me:
PS360 are both stagnent. Later this year the Wii U is released (if the rumours are to be believed). Consumers who are hungry for new a new console might be more inclined to pick it up. Surely this will help Nintendo?
After about one year we can expect the PS3+1 or Xbox360+1 to release. I think they're going to be more expensive, and at launch they've got to be lacking in titles compared to the Wii U. Surely this will help Nintendo?
This is just my opinion - I think that using a second screen is a great addition to gameplay, and I think Nintendo has the best value way of getting you a second screen. With the Vita, Sony has the overall best way but it is costly. Microsoft smartglass is the most accessible way, but I doubt it can provide the depth of experience the PS4WiiU can. I make no prediction regarding how much this does/doesn't help Nintendo.
Furthermore, we have absolutely no way of knowing the graphical leap from the PS360 --> Wii U or from the Wii U --> PS3+1/Xbox360+1. But, if graphics were the be all and end all, wouldn't gamers simply buy the fastest desktop PC that they could afford?
This upcoming gen I will probably get a Wii U straight away because I'm hungry, plus it will replace my Wii straight away (backwards compatibility FTW). I think the Wii U would then supplant the 360 as my preferred game console, but won't displace my gaming PC as the graphics king of the house.
