I think I'll go with Max Payne because Max Payne 2 is my favorite game of all time. It's the only way I can choose, otherwise I will be stuck inside space time continuum.

PS: Max Payne 3 doesn't count.

I voted other, Mario. He saves the day, plays sports, is a Dr, is a pro kart racer, time traveler, Golfer, he does everything including keeping a relationship for other 30 years.

As an adult I'm gonna say my time with commander Shepard, Ezio and Darth Revan were notable from an "this dude rocks" standpoint.

Thanks man. I don't even know how many times I've played that game. Last time I counted was back in 2005 or so, and I had already played it over 10 times. I play it every year, several time, during summer.

That is a tough one.....I liked Isaac Clarke from the Dead Space series......not the quiet one from DS1 mind you(although that also had its charm) but mostly because of the craziness of Dead Space 2. I think they could have developed him more, but overall it was nice to see him develop over DS2-3

Renegade Shepard is the only good answer.

So many good ones... im stuck between Snake / Big Boss (I dont know why thats two options cause it will split the vote for snake) and Yu or maybe even Max Payne cause of that dialogue...

I think im going to have to go with Snake just because Yu is supposed to be the player... And as much as I like Max Payne, I think I like metal gear a little more... But then again I do like persona as a game more... I dont think silent protagonists should be considered the best though...

Side note: If this is the best male poll, is there going to be a female one as well and will shepherd be on that too?

My opinion here, don't go getting offended all at once you guys but... man a lot of these guys suck. They're one or two dimensional at most... I mean if this were about iconic then I'd accept protagonists like Masterchief, Kratos or Geralt, but if we're talking about protagonists of quality... I guess I'd go with Ezio. We see him grow and he shows an understandable emotional evolution, all while being able to juggle more than one single personality trait! Good on you Ezio!

I just wanted to make that grand statement, honestly. And I don't know enough about any of the other guys listed on the poll to do a grand statement for them, so there you go.

I was expecting something better when I was reading the first bit :P. Ezio is probably the best AC protagonist and I do like him, but compared to some of the other people on the list, he doesnt stand a chance.

I'm not surprised XD And I'm sure there's many games I haven't played that do have enticing male protagonists I'd rather vote for, but as of right now Ezio is the more memorable character for me on a personal level.

Actually as I was writing that I thought of Joel. Yeah they make him a bit of a brooding grump for the first few hours of The Last of Us, but it's another game that successfuly manages to open him up and reveal a complicated set of conflicting emotions. He only gets more three-dimensional as the game progresses, right until the end.

Maybe Joel would be a better pick. Not sure though.
