Who the **** is responsible for all these Final Fantasy doom threads is a better question.
Damn son. Series is still going strong. Enough with the QQ'ing.
It all started to unravel when Sakaguchi left.
But the games released these days aren't as bad as SW makes them out to be. Except for XIV.
Naw 13 was the worst in my opinion but this is base on me never having played 14. I honestly thought the battle system of 12 would have been improved upon.[QUOTE="mmmwksil"]Naw 13 was the worst in my opinion but this is base on me never having played 14. II is arguably the worst, if we don't count the MMOs XI and XIV.
XIII is one of the better combat systems in the series, if not the best.
It is not a doom thread. I just felt this was a pretty good article to read for fans of the series. I for one didn't know that some the the weakest entries of the series were directed by the same person. So maybe a chage of director is what FF needsWho the **** is responsible for all these Final Fantasy doom threads is a better question.

Hmm? cloud3601 is the one who keeps posting that.
It's all one person..?
Good god.
Well I guess to address the OP, I don't think the series is in a downward spiral, it's in a **** up spot for sure though. If Squeenix listened to fans they would be making FF VII- 5 right about now. If they try anything new, they're screwed because it won't be like it used to be. If they go to the old school formula, cries of out of ideas or rehash would surface.
I just think Square needs to go back to a sort of IX era art design. XIII, while being a final fantasy title in name, didn't feel like a real Final Fantasy title to me because of the art style, however beautiful it was. I think if Squeenix can bring in the modern advances they've made in combat and level design, mixed with the familiarity of the old school games art style and character designs, we should be golden.
[QUOTE="SauceKing"]western RPG devs. They raised the bar farther than square enix or any other japanese dev could reach when they moved to consoles.Tikeio
That's not the problem. JRPGs on home consoles this gen just suck compared to the ones released last gen.
I totally agree the one that stood out the most was Lost Odyssey but to bad Mystwalker had a falling out with MS.I totally agree the one that stood out the most was Lost Odyssey but to bad Mystwalker had a falling out with MS.ceelogic
LO's outstanding quality were the Thousand Years of Dreams segments. The actual gameplay and story of the game itself were par or below.
Wada, Toriyama,Production Team 1 isn't the team they once were, the fact Square has lost a lot of talent within the last decade. Now have the FF titles been as bad as people made them out to be? Sort of FFXIII wasn't that great, FFXIV has it's flaws, but spin offs like 4 Heroes of Light wasn't too bad.

^^^ Nailed it.
Still an enjoyable game though.. however I was only driven to keep playingat the excitement of unlocking more Dream sequences.Someone REALLY needs to take a clue from those and expand upon it greatly.. just in a better game.
Why are people so obsessed with bashing Final Fantasy? We get 5 of these STUPID threads every day.

As stated earlier, this isn't the same guy who keeps posting those topics.
And there is no bashing of Final Fantasy in the OP. It's just a link to a site that's bashing Final Fantasy. I don't see the problem.

But what else was there of this GEN to compare. Blue dragon and uninfinite discovery were alright but LO was better.[QUOTE="ceelogic"]But what else was there of this GEN to compare. Blue dragon and uninfinite discovery were alright but LO was better. mmmwksil
FFXIII and Vesperia, for starters. Arguably Graces and maybe even Xillia.
Nier.
FF games blow by today's standards. I bought FF12 after the great review it got here and I'll never buy another JRPG again. Western developers have surpassed their Japanese counterparts in every single way imaginable...

Eternal Sonata was pretty good. The fans. They can't accept change and just want a FFVII remake.foxhound_foxI can't speak for everyone, but I rather not have a remake to FFVII, and I'm all down for change as long as it is good change.

Nier is a mediocre piece of s**t game. I'm surprised no one mentioned Xenoblade Chronicles.

I'm not a Final Fantasy fan. Maybe that's the reason why I'm one of the few people who didn't hate FFXIII. ;)
True fans of the series can see XIII for the flawed gem that it is. Fake fans ****-ride VII to high heaven.

Depends on your opinion about which game was the greatest in the series.
Greatest :? I guess the franchise really has gone down the drain. To be honest I wouldn't even put FFXIII in the top five[QUOTE="jasonharris48"]

Poor choice of words. What is your favorite game in the series. That determines the answer to the earlier question.
Final Fantasy Tactics War of Lions. Huge fan of the original enjoyed the PSP version even more considering they fixed a lot of the dialogue that screwed in the original version. My top five titles would have to be FF Tactics WotL, FFIX,FFVI,FFXII, and FFVIII. First FF title was FFII (which is really FFIV) I had no clue what a RPG was at the time, but I thought the cover looked cool (I was around six or seven when I first played the game) What to know anything else? If it was for the FF franchise I wouldn't be a JRPG fan let alone a RPG fan in general. Please Log In to post.
