Sony is out of the picture because they are losing money on each console still.
Microsoft I believe makes money on each 360 but I don't know how much.
Nintendo must be making a killinig and maybe even doubling their money.
Same to assume Nintendo?

I wanna say Xbox 360 as the quality of the hardware is so bad. That and it sells $100 more than the average wii :P Sony is definitely last though, high quality hardware and a high price when launch, they are still losing $17 for every slim sold :(Sony is out of the picture because they are losing money on each console still.

since the wii is pretty much just 2 gamecubes duck taped together im pretty sure nintendo makes a fair chunk of each one.

I find it hard to believe that M$ is making anything off their consoles considering how many they have to replace due to their crappy hardware. My little brother bought a 360 last september, and we've had to have it replaced 3 times since them.

RROD made a 1 billion hole alone, i dont know if they filled that up yet. So is it really profit before its full?(the hole)[QUOTE="bobbleheadrogue"][QUOTE="OwnallConsoles"]I wanna say Xbox 360 as the quality of the hardware is so bad. I think 360 cost less to design research and not much more to produce than the wii.
Even though it is more powerful, it is bigger, less reliable, less efficient and comes with a higher pricetag.
They also make huge profit on people who buy M$ HDD, wireless adapter or live subscription.
But then there is the rrod.
I think nintendo won most per console in the end.
I think Nintendo is probably making the most off their console. I'm pretty sure they were making a profit from initial release.
Microsoft is making a profit, and has for a while. They also have Live, which rakes in a ridiculous amount of cash yearly.
PS3 is down to an $18 loss as of February 2010 I believe, and a new form GPU is allowing them to lower production costs with smaller heat sinks etc. They either are turning a very, very slight profit, or will be soon. Link regarding smaller form GPU
That is false. Even if you duck taped 2 xboxes and 2 ps2s, you still won't reach the power of the Wii. On-topic: Nintendosince the wii is pretty much just 2 gamecubes duck taped together im pretty sure nintendo makes a fair chunk of each one.

lets be honest. we all know that every system makes each one of them alot of money right from launch. they cry and moan about how much the system cost them to make. just so we pay their launch prices. they have even started to hold systems back at launch to force big lines and to force people to buy the systems on sight. every one of them did it this gen.... they are all about making money and will do or say anything to get it.

I don't understand. Sony were known to be losing anywhere from around $250 to $307 I believe right from launch.

nintendo. the wii never (even when it first launched) cost as much to make as what they were selling it for.And this my friends, is how you demonstrate pure ignorance on your part.since the wii is pretty much just 2 gamecubes duck taped together im pretty sure nintendo makes a fair chunk of each one.

It's Nintendo at launch they made $15 off each Wii sold.
Nintendo_Ownes7
Is this confirmed by Nintendo, or is it speculated by outside analysts?

Speculated, then confirmed. It was on GS itselfI'd say MS
they probably make 360s for around $150 each, so the Elite probably nets them near $120+ profit since it comes with a bunch of cheap accessories (HDD is cheap too)
Wii is probably sold around for a 50% profit until the black M+ Wii Resort bundle
Microsoft took about two years, but they broke even by the third, and have been making a profit since. $ony would tell the public that they've been losing money on every console... but a leaked stockholder's memo proved that they'd been profiting for a long time, saying to stockholders that in fact, each PS3 only costs them $252~ to make. and naturally, higher profit margins on the units packed with larger hard drives. Nintendo has been making profit from day one; at least they were up front about it.codezer0
Link please.
Also,
Microsoft does make some money from the 360 hardware, but it isn't as much as many people think....it isn't hand over fist.
Why? Because broken XBOX 360's have plagued and torn apart much of the profit that the hardware would have made. That 1 billion dollars has been run through LOOONG ago, and each XBOX 360 that breaks, and many of them several times btw, it keeps adding to the average cost of each system.
The worst part is, is there seems to be no end in sight because the systems from 2005 all the way up to 2009 are still breaking. We don't even know if the new Jaspers are actually helping long term because they've only been out for a year.
XBOX 360 hardware issues have been a nightmare for Microsoft this whole generation.

yeah Nintendo definantly.

scary but true.
There is nothing "scary" for a for-profit business making profits.
