Being able to download over 10,000 movies from Netflix, and all you need is a Gold membership?
Is there anyone out there still questioning whether the $50 a year is worth it?

I don't doubt it.
People are cheap.

Well, you do have to PAY NETFLIX as well...
and correct me if I'm wrong, but you can already do this on PC which means if you have a PS3, you can already do this...
I like to play video games on my video game consoles. I guess I'm weird like that.famicommanderyou can still do that though. no one is forcing you to buy these things. But its sweet to have it anyways. options are good.
ps3 lets you rent movie. :| in hd.Midget_BoyTrue but does it allow you to rent unlimted for $8.99 a month ?

It seems that you weren't fully aware of all the facts before you made this thread, lol.

You're very right.
However, I haven't tried to stream those movies from my ps3, although I say its possible..
So...then..why pay the $50 extra bucks a year when you can get it off the PS3 for just the price of netflix?
~Great multiplayer experience? No. It really bugs me the fact that all those immature people have nothing better to do on that game but talk bad stuff and say a bunch of cuss words that spoil the gameplay for everyone.
~Better online features like messaging and stuff? No, not when none of your real life friends are too cheap to pay for the Xbox Gold and they like the mature audience of the PS3 better. =/
I pay the $50 a year, but probably won't renew it when it expires in April.

But can't you do this RIGHT NOW if you have a PC? Then it's any of us PC owners.
Furthermore, this FEATURE being touted, has been fully active in the PS3. As a matter of fact, you can even save Movies via WiFi on your PS3, if you choose too.
I just got a 360 in addition to my PS3. Let me tell you that PSN is what I am enjoying way way more. The only thing XBL has an advantage of is the voice chat. That's it and it's not worth the $50. The layout and organization sucks. Plain and simple. Sony's a lot better looking, faster and more organized. And yes, once Home comes out, XBL will be worthless.DJCUEBALL
sure you did buddy

Or the thousands of movies/tv shows already on the marketplace? Maybe you will take a liking to the amount of arcade games that you can download right now. Or all the extra content for past games or maybe a couple of Rock Band songs? Man you really haven't gone deep enough with your Xbox360 then if you cant appreiciate that, oh and most of what I mentioned above can be done from a silver account.

I do have a silver account. I'm not saying there is no content... there are many, but the organization system sucks compared to PSN in my opinion. Yes, voice chat, custom music is all nice and I do enjoy it, but when Sony fully puts Home in place for FREE, then XBL isn't worth the $50. I know XBL is doing an overhaul on the dashboard and adding avatars, but so what?
I found it very easy to make new friends by playing a few online demos and perhaps you would make some more in you know... game lobbies? I know it's far fetched, granted thats how I made friends outside of my "real life" friends. Dont you think it's strange that your saying that immature people are the ones on XBL? Granted if everyone had a headset on the PS3 I bet you it would be just as bad if not worse, could you imagine playing Resistance online with that many voices *shudder*? Oh and less I forget, I think that $50 is a much steeper charge for "kids" to pay rather than the one time fee $20-$30 for a PS3 headset.~Great multiplayer experience? No. It really bugs me the fact that all those immature people have nothing better to do on that game but talk bad stuff and say a bunch of cuss words that spoil the gameplay for everyone.

So what? They are taking the features of Home that people care about that is gaming/friend related and ratcheting it up to 11. How can you "not care" about that? I agree I don't care for the avatars, but I do welcome the group voice chat, party system and watching the occasional movie when I am away from my friends in RL (like when I travel). The dasshboard revamp looks to be the exact thing your waiting for, give it a shot when it releases I bet you won't be dissapointed. Remember XBL has easily 4X the content on it's servers, its much harder to please everyone with a dashboard revamp.[QUOTE="DJCUEBALL"]You dont like the cross gaming invites? In my opinion, I feel like PSN is better organized in its layout with decent content (now that they have movies too) and in addition to Home, I think it will be better than XBL because it's free. That's it... stop trying to read between the lines because there's nothing hidden in this. I enjoy both systems and there are strenghts and weaknesses in both. But the PS3 suits me more with what it offers. The 360 may be better for you... I understand that. So just leave it at that and enjoy the damn gaming machine.

nevermind youre using xbox silver you cant possibley make a fair assessment between psn and live, unless you actually get gold
Ok...I'd pay $10 a month to watch any movie I want at anytime. This still is better than PSN. Can you even run the Netflix plugin on the PS3..somehow I doubt it. I was having a hell of a time watching simple videos on PS3 in mpeg format.MadExponent
Nope you cannot watch netflix movies on PS3.

Well for the first month you get Gold for free when you buy a 360. So yes I can make a fair assessment.
why the trouble to watch movies??
- why pay for live
- why pay for netflix
just go online to the free PSN store, go to the video sections, purchase what you want
you don't need to pay for a live acc, you don't need to pay for netflix account
just PAY FOR WHAT U PURCHASE AT NO EXTRA COST
just like how lemmings claim about teh thousands of demos on xbl, so? every major good demo appears on the PSN too, free.
In terms of service it is absolutely not worth a dime. It's like way back when you had to pay for Netscape when IE was free. Just no. I've been playing games online for free and to better effect on my PC since starcraft and HL1, asking me to pay for a service that is in many ways inferior, citing stupid novelties like trophies or accomplishments or whatever is just something I can't bring myself to do.
On the other hand, if we compare it to PSN, which when it comes down to the nitty gritty of performance and whatnot is everybit as effective as XBL, if not in many cases better, the 50 bucks might be worth the significantly bigger playerbase. Especially in Multiplat games like COD, it's much easier to get an XBL game, or so I figured, comparing my experience on PSN and what I hear about XBL.
Edit: I saw a little bit of footage from Home and it appears that finding games will be soooooo much easier than it is now, at least, if your options are open at any moment to playing more than 1 game, so when that comes out, I suppose XBL will not have too much of an advantage. A bigger playerbase is always a plus I suppose, but I wouldn't pay for something like that.
You can do those things with Silver as well.why the trouble to watch movies??

Because of the current situation in the console sales, there are more Xbox360's around right now, therefore having a higher rate of kids and other immature people on the servers.
Plus, parents would see the Xbox360 for cheaper than the PS3, and since most parents are clueless, and the sales clerk usually says the 360 sells better (or may be a lemming and hope other people catch on), the 360 is then recieved by that child. Plus, the parent probably doesn't know that the online is free on the PS3. Hypothetically speaking of course.
Therefore, adults who have researched these consoles may head for the PS3, seeing that it seems to be the better deal as of now, and since they took the time to research it, they probably have the maturity to not speak in such a manner. Right?
Being able to download over 10,000 movies from Netflix, and all you need is a Gold membership?
Is there anyone out there still questioning whether the $50 a year is worth it?

you need a netflix ACCOUNT!
ps3 lets you rent movie. :| in hd.Midget_Boy
 XBL has been doing that for 2 years now! Sony is seriously just playing catch up and wen everyone thought MS was just sitting back and watching sony pathetically try to copy them, they take XBL to a whole new level. Live is definitely worth $50 a year.

Sony didn't copy the MOVIE idea from Microsoft, it was the other way around.

XBL is crap. tell me how many of those movies can you download without a lag. and how long does it take you to comfortably watch those movies? dont be cheap, get a ps3, a 52 in 1080p tv, and pop in bluray movies for a real movie experience. the XBL movie download reminds me of youtube....horrible image quality and experience. get a real theater setup please.
