just wondering what do you guys think, and will the trend continue? My guess is the 360.

usually Western games sell slightly better on the Xbox
while some easter (especially Japanesse) Do much better on playstation
In the case of multiplats the 360 since it has a higher attach rate. Certain exclusives like Halo 3 and gears of war have sold more than PS3 exclusives but otheer than those two they seem pretty even. What do you think?just wondering what do you guys think, and will the trend continue? My guess is the 360.

Depends heavily on genre, FPS' and wrpgs sell more on the x360 while jrpgs, racing and platform games sell more on the PS3. Sports game depend on the sport, with games like NFL selling better on x360 since it dominates the USA market and games like FIFA selling better on the PS3 since it dominates the European and Japanese markets.

PS3 software sales rose during Sony's most recent fiscal year, (May 1, 2009 - April 30 2010) jumping from 2008's 103.7 million units sold to 115.6 million units sold.
This performance was greater than that of Sony's main competitor, Microsoft's Xbox 360, which sold 103.1 million units. This boost undoubtedly was, in at least in some part, an effect of such high profile PS3 exclusives as Heavy Rain, MAG and God of War III, as well as the introduction of the "slim" model PS3 last September.
that is all. ;)

Forgetting about GT5, LBP2, and the rest of the Ps3 exclusives already out this year?[QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"][QUOTE="glez13"]the rest of the time the 360 won, and this year the 360 is winning. I'm not sure 360 is winning this year, are you sure? What about the rest of the years.

Yes Reach and Black Ops are enough for MS. Im sure mafia 2 is selling better on the 360, Fable 3 will sell as much as LBP2, reach will trample the competition, GT5 will sell alot, but reach will pace much better.
Common Sense says 360.
- More Hardware units sold
- It's generally accepted that they have the better mutliplats, except in rare cases
- The NPD almost always agrees with me

madden im sure will sell better on the 360, agreed

I don't see any way at all that 360 could be selling more software up to this point of the year. Ps3 just has too much exclusives for it to do so, I could be wrong. Nothing you say will change anything though for obvious reasons.360 sells all of the multiplats better, there were a few exceptions (FF, SFIV t oname a couple). I wouldn't call getting outsold nearly 2:1 on one of the most popular games released (MW2) or by greater than 50% on a game that orginated with the PS (GTAIV) as slightly.

DLC past sales were pretty inferior to 360 in the COD series. It will do decent but wont be that close to 360.

But we shouldnt use Past stuff to say FOR SURE that itll sell more on 360. Theres a good chance, but its not guranteed.

very good chance, rarely does PS3 outpace the 360 in multiplats anyway so I dont think nothing is going to change. Strong strong odds that black ops will sell best on 360.

It depends whos numbers your looking at. Im sure I can find a list of games that sold more on PS3 in teh UK or whatever. Anyway, thats to be expected since theyres more consoles sold, so naturaly their going to sell more.

*laughs* the source is examiner.com...which is using...Playstation university as its source. Here's some info, examiner.com is a blog type news reporting site, most any one can start writing articles for it, lets see its written by someone who writes ps3 material over there, its a user not a professional source, and it uses playstation university as the source for the numbers.
The numbers in the link are derived from Sony's financial reports data and calculation from Microsoft's hardware data and (US) tie ratio.
The 103.1 software shipment figure is based on the following.
MSFT Q309 LTD Hardware 30.2 million x MSFT (US) Q309 tie ratio 8.3 = 250.66 million LTD software units shipped
MSFT Q309 LTD Hardware 40.2 million x MSFT (US) Q310 tie ratio 8.8 = 353.76 million LTD software units shipped
353.76 - 250.66 = 103.1 million software units shipped.
Period of time covered = 12 months, the same calendar months as Sony's fiscal year.
so its from a playstation website, where they are using playstation official data, and batches of data to """"speculate""" at what microsoft, nintendo and other numbers are at... hell why dont we just use vgchartz? since thats what they do. If they were using official reported microsoft numbers then fine, but they are using batches of numbers to speculate as to what the world wide result is. So..in the end its playstation university numbers...not trustworthy. The numbers in the link are derived from Sony's financial reports data and calculation from Microsoft's hardware data and (US) tie ratio.
