Sony is essentially doing everything it can to detract from the reality of their system, like a seventy year old man trying to pick up college chicks in his sports car, they're in a world of denial. Home doesn't change that every compelling game on the system is going multiplat, or that their system is significantly more expensive than the competition.
I have no faith that a game they announce as "exclusive" will remain exclusive unless it's published by Sony, The same can be said for Microsoft, but choosing between "Ratchet & Clank" or "Resistance"Â and "Halo 3", "Gears of War", et cetera... it's not a hard decision.
If FF XIII goes multiplatform (as the white engine rumors imply... and every "this game is going multiplat" rumor has come true so far) then what reason is their to own a PS3? Fanboyism. The few people for whom Blu-Ray actually matters at this point aren't going to buy into the PS3, and eventually superior quality HD-DVD / Blu-Ray players will be the choice of A/V buffs - generaly consumers would be wise to wait until the prices drop and the dust settles, especially since for most movies there's no reason to re-buy your entire DVD library.
I've lost all faith in Sony. They seem to be floundering in the water with no real clue as to what their consumers want. They lack the games or online infratstructure to appeal to a hardcore gamer like myself, and their high-pricing and generally nickel-and-diming ways are ill at odds with the general consumer. Wii wins with casuals, 360 with the hardcore - PS3 is going to become a niche system... a niche full of bitter fanboys and shell-shocked early adopters.
