Who will sell more: Modern Warfare 3 or Diablo III

My friend is a very stubborn PC fanboy and believes "if its on the PC its better" for every game. Now where some situations this may be true, it isn't for all (ex. GTA IV). Now the arguement he is starting is that Diablo III will be "bigger" than Modern Warfare 3 as far as sales and lifetime players. While Diablo III will have many, all of those players will play MW3 on the PC, and then there are still all the console players to account for. Black Ops is the best selling game of ALL TIME, followed by Halo Reach and MW2. While I wish so many tools didn't ruin these games for me, theres just no way PC players will outnumber them. Tell me if you agree or not.

Being super popular and on all systems,it´s pretty obvious that MW3 will outsell a game exclusive to a single platform,no matter how good Diablo 3 will do comercially.

This is what I've been trying to tell him. He's too much of a fanboy to see how it will loose. Diablo III will have more players as a lifetime record, but only because a new diablo won't be released every year, unlike the call of duty franchise. The players of CoD just migraite to the next. It is quite possible Diablo II will be better, but will be beaten by MW3 with ease most likely.

Diablo 3 so far is getting alot of negative backlash (mainly due to art style and graphics), i dont think D3 is going to be that succesful, its not shaping up to be very good at all

It is shaping up to be amazing. What about it isnt good? The only thing I can see is if someone doesnt like the artstyle, and I personally like it for the most part.

1. Most games are better on PC - this isn't an opinion - i'm talking about technical fact

2. GTA IV is far better on PC. Theres too many reasons to list why. You trolling?

3. DiabloIII won't sell as well as MW3 at first, but a decade later it will still be played by millions, while MW3 will be long forgotten.

If it has COD in the name then 99% of the time it will sell more.

Mw3 maybe sell more first but people will be playing Diablo 3 for years to come when Mw3 is forgotten

D3 will have a longer lasting fan base and perhaps even more lifetime sales, however CoD will be more popular at first.

in the long run DIII will have mw3 its face on a tin tray.

in the short term.. mw3 will likely win

MW3 easily diablo is not even that high of selling game to begin with last game i think sold only 4-5 million which is good but no where near what what MW3 sell alone on the 360

Agreed 1000%, Diablo 3 will be a return to the series after about a decade and its made by Blizzard so it will be an excellent game. MW3 will just be another CoD game but it will sell millions because everyone keeps buying it. I dont really care which one sells better though.

To me? Diablo 3 will sell more. And Diablo 3 will sell more to me by 1. 1 copy of D3 and 0 copies of MW3.

MW3 on every platform, but on PC its hard to tell since we dont ever get steam numbers, but cod games are always at the top of steam top 10 for months.

A game thats on every system or a PC exclusive, that is a tough question.

MW3 will sell more units because it's a multi-platform title. They're putting out a title on platforms with three giant installed user-bases, while Diablo is being put out just on the PC (for now). Diablo 3 will get better reviews and be the more acclaimed title from gamers and critics though.

Either way, Activision will be:

COD8 will sell more. (It is 8, right? COD4:MW, COD5:MW2, COD6:WaW, COD7:BLOPS, COD8:MW3)

MW3 will sell more, Diablo 3 will be infinitely better as a game.

Diablo III is a game that will be lucky to hit sales more than 6 million in its lifetime.

MW3 is a game that will sell anywhere between 7 - 10 million units in its first 24 hours on the market.

MW3 will destroy Diablo III without any difficulty whatsoever.

MW3 will sell more, Diablo 3 will be the better game.

Modern Warfare 3 could sell anywhere from 20 million to 40 million copies.

Diablo III could sell anywhere from 5 million to 15 million copies.

But Diablo III will have a ~ 10 year lifespan, MW3 perhaps 10 months... (Nah but ~1-3 years...)
