Who will win the next next-generation console war?

In 3 or so years when all the new consoles come out, who will win the next console war and how will they win it (ex: what new features will be killer apps and dissapointments, etc.)?

Next-Gen? Make this thread 5 years or so from now, a "who will win this gen" would be more appropriate. Besides we have no idea of the games and capabilities of next gen consoles, just be patient I'm just starting to like this gen no need to start looking for the next gen.

The company that releases a $200 launch console that's online out of the box, HD out of the box, and a blu-ray player out of the box as well as updated graphics.

PS3 will win, since it's so far ahead in terms of tech that it Won't have a problem going toe to toe with WiiHD and X-Box Natal.

I wouldn't be surprised to see both Sony and Microsoft gone by then. With the way the Wii has just mopped the floor with them. Ideally it will be between Nintendo, Apple, and maybe a renewed Sega. Nintendo will, as always, win.

I don't know but I can't wait to see what Nintendo will do. They wowed the world with the Wii and motion sensing tech, so I wonder how they will follow up the enormous success of the Wii.

You forgot Apple and Sony teaming up. That will win the next gen and many more gens to come.

In 2012 the next polar reversal will take place on earth. This means that the North Pole will be changed into the South Pole. Scientifically this can only be explained by the fact that the earth will start rotating in the opposite direction, together with a huge disaster of unknown proportions.

ms will win next gen. they will make alot off money from the 360 by its end. and they will spend some of the money to either buy up new first party devs or buy rights to big 3rd party exclusives in order to build a even bigger user base next gen. i also think ms will drop the fee to play online

Sony has built the best console and has the greatest exclusives and gives it's gamers the most for their money. The Wii sells the most and the 360 isn't either one.

I have a feeling next gen is going to be like an empire strikes back for sony. I mean they made so many mistakes this gen, that they have the most to learn from, i have a feeling MS is getting big headed and is going to makes some huge mistake like sony did this gen. Im willing to bet anything that next gen the ps4 ( i doubt thats what its name will be) Will launch same year as MS new console, at 299$ with a solid launch list. There is no way in hell its going to be any more than that because everything was just a snowball effect for sony after its 599$ price tag was announced. The psone and the ps2 both launched at 299$, so i mean, i think that they can piece this together the reasons that there first 2 consoles were a success and this one a failure

its impossiblt to call at the moment of course. my speculation looking a bit at history....it would seem that nintendo will win the sales race again..but the wii2 wont sell as many as the wii. ninty win with the nes and snes then sony took over with the PS1 and 2. granted..thats not exactly enough data to go on. the momentum is definately going with nintendo though. obhiously for the wii2 they are going to have to step up their game. assuming there going with motion controls again (and i think they will..ninty tend to follow a revolution->evolution pattern and the wii is certainly something different) they are going to have to have controls that are better than sonys as standard in the box (theres still loads of room for improvement..so thats cetainly possible). because they wont have a USP anymore they are also going to have to start attacking sony and MS again. sony and MS will have motion controls as standard in their next console...thats a given. as for MS and sony....well its an uphill struggle here. out of the two of them i think sony have the best chance at retaking the crown. they have beaten ninty before and they have this inexpleciable ability to get people to believe that their product is just better...because its a sony. if they can really push that and undermine nintendos strategy then were going to have a real fight on our hands. sony will try and translate "family entertainment" that ninty broadcast into "kiddy, childish trash". it was a very effective strategy for sony the first time. nintendo will have to counter it or they will be in serious trouble. sony also have to get focused. this business of using the playstation brand as a trojan horse is not doing the brand any favours. they need to make a focused console that does one thing very well...play games online and off. if they dillydally about with "oh its a super computer. no its a media center. no its a blu-ray player. oh but it also plays games." then they will be a write off. a clear consice message has to come from sony-"we have made the best GAMES CONSOLE ever". thats it. MS....well nothing is impossible. natal backed by a killer app to show it off (natals mere existance is not enough) may turn the tide in their favour. but at the mo there the dark horse imho. anywho....i would go on ninty. they have the momentum. they have the experience. they have the war chest and usually a company holds it for 2 gens. the gen after next though..itll all go horribly wrong for ninty...they will catch fire and its emplyees will somewho end up drowning :P.osan0
