I've been wanting SEGA to come back and own everything. They should and if they got their resources together and whipped sonic into shape i think they could. What does everyone think?krunkfu2
How can they come back and own everything when they couldn't even own Nintendo back in the day.?
Dreamcast wasn't that great, why is it all of the sudden "cool" to praise the Dreamcast?dackchaar
what you say is heresy! i've loved my dreamcast's (i've had 3 over the years, none of them ever broke) it's been great and still is it is the only other system i have set up besides my 360 because it's that good shenmue alone is worth the purchase. i still go backto play marvel vs capcom 2 and sonic adventure . i wish i could get my hands on a copy of soul calibur i sometimes borrow my friends copy. i've been trying to get my hands on an imported copy of shenmue II for a few years it's sooooo good on dreamcast. Know that I've always loved my dreamcast and i never will stop loving it it just turned 8 and it's still going...

depending on what gen you're talking about, the reason the dreamcast died is because of the built in DVD drive that the ps2 had. At the time DVD players were expensive and paying 300$ for a console and a DVD player was a bargain. Dreamcast still ran on CD's and was quite easy to pirate games for if SEGA had used a DVD drive they would still be kickin ass, MAJOR ass
First of all, SEGA will never make another console. Accept that and move on. They don't have the resources and they wouldn't garner the support.
Second, SEGA had original names for each of their consoles. What would make you think that they would call it "Dreamcast 2"? Where is the pattern between Master System, Genesis, Game Gear, Saturn, and Dreamcast?
SmashBrosLegend
well i don't know what they would call it so i'm using DC2 for a code name or possibly a dev name and just believe it might happen...
Where's the "dont know-ay" option?... remember it was the games that made the console AAA not its name, Sega has no exclusive's :( they signed them all away so all the sonics and VF will be multplats... so NAY would be my option.sadikovic
good point but SEGA could for sure get some third party exclusives
For those of you speculating as to why SEGA died as a console manufacturer, it's completely ridiculous to say that it was only because they didn't have a DVD drive.Add in the fact that they advertised minimally and only days before the Saturn launched in the US/Canada. That hurt, a lot.
SEGA died because they supported too many console at once and had a too complicated architecture with the Saturn. They didn't get a lot of publisher support because of the high price and architecture with the Saturn, so they didn't get a lot with the Dreamcast either. They lost the trust of the public with things like Saturn, SEGA CD, Nomad and 32X.
SEGA didn't have very much money left at all when the Dreamcast debuted. They didn't have the trust of the public, and they didn't have third-party support. They didn't market it well in Europe. They spent a lot of money on busted projects (Shenmue, anyone?).

yea i remember when saturn launched SEGA thoguth everyone would find out about it and everyone was like where's SEGA's new console? and people had usually found out about it after the holiday season

um.. huh? maybe cause back then no one could even touch nintendoNo. and TC you clearly think Sega are that good? Their reputation is crap now.
1) Sega would not get any 3rd party support.
2) They would relase crappy 3D sonics on it. Their other 1st party titles sell like **** no matter how good.
3) See no.1
It would fail harder than SAturn. Also Sega dont' have enough money. As a company they are worth $3.3 Billion, Nintendo are worth over $35 billion. You see the difference there. They are a huge 3rd party company though. Which surprises me because they release so much crap and don't really have any million selling games.

First off, no, thats NOT why SEGA "died", SEGA "died" because they were almost bankrupt when the DC was launched and was hoping the DC would save them, it turned out SEGA was already too deep in the hole and they weren't able to recover.
Second, the DC didn't use CD's, it used GD's. (1.2GB discs)

my house was robbed for the first one, i received another from my friend as a gift fter i got robbed since the one he gave me didn't work for him at one point in time but worked for me just fine, and i'd bought another one while i had the one my friend gave me and i gave th one he gave me away to my friend who could never afford a console and dreamcast is awesome and there are games everywhere still you just have to ask
Only if it has good games, that is how I judge every handheld and console
majin_vegeta300
i think that if SEGA really made some good games right now and saved up some money and in the next generation or one after that they could release another system but first they need to revive sonic sonic the hedgehog for 360/PS3 was horrible and nothing but
I would prefer it if Nintendo & Sega put both their great minds together to make a console and knock both Sony and Microsoft out of the gaming industry.XenoNinja
yea both sony and microsoft don't know too much about games, more about money. the only reason i have a 360 is for halo 3 ninja gaiden 2 and the possibility of shenmue III coming to 260 like shenmue II came to the original xbox and if SEGA and Ninetendo made a console together there would be a monopoly
Sega would have to something like the wii did. It doesn't have to motion sensing, but it can't just be a regular console on par with the others. It has to have a selling point that isn't number of games or quality of games (Sega has too many scars from its crushing at the hands of sony).
Maybe a VR interface like they tried once but failed at. The tech is better now, VR is getting close.
whatever it is, it would have to be edgy
I still really enjoy the Dreamcast and for such a short-lived console it had such an amazing library of games. Truly impressive.
I remember when games like Dead or Alive 2 and LeMans 24 Hour Racing (which STILL looks amazing to this day) came out and silenced everyone who said that the system "couldnt handle them" - I believe the Dreamcast had a while to go before it's full graphical potential couldve been reached, but we'll never know.
Sega was always at the forefront of online console gaming.
No because SEGA couldn't compete against sony when they had they ps2 so how could they possibly compete with sony when sony now has ps2 and the ps3.odin2019
Thats NOT what it is, SEGA was BANKRUPT with the DC, they had NO way to FINANCIALLY support the DC....
