Who's Gonna Sell more in July NPD? Ps3 or 360?

PS3 Price Cut into Effect about July 10th.Top selling videogame product on and off at Amazon since then (never slipped from the top 3 I don't think). Anyways.......who's gonna win (second place) for July NPD (Wii's got first on lock down).

Well that'd be no fun, then nobody gets to claim ownage........because you know one way or the other, if PS3 outsells 360 or 360 outsells PS3 people are gonna try and claim ownage

Ahh....the attempt at ownage begins (as I predicted earlier in the thread). And now, I will officially begin the pro-PS3 side of the argument.

But the PS3 is still $499 and still costs $100 more than the 360

And it has officially began as prophesized......

believe me cows would claim ownage even if it was only 1 more console sold. They might win July but they might get tripled in September.

you seem far too defensive about this. if a 100 dollar price cut doesn't put you in reach of your closest competition, you officially have a problem, no matter how you cut it.

Nah, I'm not defensive about it....this is just what people will say.

It's probably gonna be a close one, though I'm thinking the odds stack up VERY SLIGHTLY in favor of the 360. Several retailers reported a 100% increase in the amount of sales of the PS3 with the price drop. Assuming this figure is true and it's a decent average, that would put the PS3 on 360 levels of sales (add or take a couple thousand). However, these jumps are rarely constant. While the PS3 will not drop to it's previous levels of sales, I don't think the rate will keep up during the whole month, simply because all the people who were just waiting for the price drop are more likely to get a PS3 right after it goes.

Of course, I'm not considering the psychology of the 60gb going "out of stock", which might make people scramble to get it while supplies last, and this could very well make the PS3 surpass the 360.

The PS3 should win in July due to the clearance sale.... however in august it will got back to 2:1 and most likely 3:1 in september

PS3. PS3 was a really high price and some people couldent afford it, now with the price drop they can. 360 has been affordable for alot more people then the PS3, so it wont be that big of a diffrence then before.Haseokicksass

They already had a $499 sku before and it didn't sell.

I expect to see the ps3 hit 150,000 for july and the 360 hit 185,000.

August will see ps3 with 160,000 and the 360 at 210,000 due to the price break for august.

Nintendo hasn't won anything yet, the gen isn't even over and you are ignoring the FACT that the 360 outsold the Wii in november and december. It's not over, I predict the Wii's sales will fall off next year and it will finish at best 2nd place.

As for the other 2, 360..The PS3 has NEVER outsold the 360 and it won't start now.

It didn't outsell the Wii worldwide in November and December, though. 360s were stocked in NA, while Wii was severely supply constrained worldwide. Everything is getting THRASHED by the Wii so far this year, and there hasn't been a single sign that that is going to stop. Your opinion is a pure guess with nothing to back it up. So, I guess I'm glad you have it, but really, you should think about forming a stronger opinion before sharing it with everyone.

Also, the generation's winner is never decided in the middle of a race. It's decided at the beginning. The winner is clear. It'd take nothing short of a disaster for the Wii to be knocked off the throne.

Once there are no 60 GBs left they will have a SKU to replace it at the same price point or lower.

Not that supple line again, Listen, that line is pure garbage and has been thrown out. And I doubt you even know the sales numbers for those months, I am going based off of America where the 360 slapped the Wii around to the degree it took that system 3 months give or take to catch up. Now if you subtract Japan the 360 would have outsold the Wii in north america and europe..The only reason the Wii's numbers are so good is because of Japan. Next time check your numbers before you reply.

Beginning? LMAO!!!!! Nice try! The PS1 sold terrible in the beginning but it won out in the end, also the dreamcast started well and crapped out soon to, the saturn did ok for a while and bombed also! You just love your wii and claim it has already won, which it hasn't! The winner IS NEVER DECIDED IN THE BEGINNING!!!! The majority of people don't buy their system in year 1, but in the middle. Most people will buy their systems later on. So no, the Wii hasn't won yet and with great games and price cuts coming for the other systems the Wii could very well fall to 3rd place monthly by december. It hasn't won yet, these things take time.
