You'll have to define what you mean by "more hardcore".
The FPS was born on the PC. And the competitive side is fairly dominated by PC. the only place I've seen competitive console FPS taken seriously is in MLG, and lol, that got relegated to a smaller stage once they started running Starcraft 2 competitions.
Also PC gamers are spread out among various types of PC FPS's. From Team to solo gameplay, from coutner strike to Team Fortress 2.
Consoles have... call of duty and that's pretty much it.

And all are extremely competative on PC, while nearly forgotten on console :|
No console game, much less an fps, is currently as competative as QuakeLive or CS.

PC gamers have long mocked the use of handheld controllers as an input method for shooters and other genres that require fast, precise actions. Apparently, that attitude isn't unwarranted, based on blog post by the founder of Voodoo PC and current CTO of HP's gaming division, Rahul Sood.
According to Sood's sources, "many many months ago," Microsoft set out on a Xbox Live project that would let PC and console users interact on some form of united multiplayer platform – a grand idea on paper. In practice however, it's said that PC gamers "destroyed" console players every time.
The slaughter was so bad, Sood says that Microsoft even pitted "mediocre" PC gamers against "the best" console gamers in testing, and the results were unchanged: the keyboard and mouse prevailed. It's not clear what titles were played, but Unreal and Gears of War are mentioned.
Displeased with its findings, Microsoft supposedly cancelled the project to spare its Xbox team and players the embarrassment. I think most of us can agree a keyboard and mouse is more precise, but what do you prefer and why? Feel free to preach the virtues of your input device in the comments.
BF3 was supposed to be there savior, look how THAT turned out..."hardcore" - lol
I would say that this gen we see a larger amount of console players playing FPSs a lot more dedicated. CoD has an amazingly fanatic playerbase.
The PC's more competitive FPSs have been dying out with nothing there to replace them.
Wasdie
I mean pc gamers have the precision with the mouse, but console gamers have an easier control setup, but which one dominates more?Second_Hokageuhm thats bullsh*t. PCs have a much superior button layout, with much more situational awareness than a puny controller.

We get it it Wasdie, you have been trolling around and pretending to be on the consolites side, you are not doing good enough :P
You know and We all know that, kissing up to console fanboys won't get you anything.
No matter what anyone says... PC clearly owns all, and this is a FACT.

Which is more hardcore?
PC gamers would dominate console gamers because of the precision with the mouse though.
None of it, it's all flawed. I don't know why PC gamers always act like k/b+m is anything like an accurate portrayal of firing a gun. Seriously, go fire one, it's nothing alike at all. Neither set up is.Sali217This isn't a discussion about realism. We're talking about which community is more hardcore and competitive. Generic FPS=/=Realism anyway.
I dont know what you mean by hardcore but there is a huge drop of in skill level when going from PC to consoles. I usually can get pretty high in the leader boards on console shooters but I'm very noobish when I play PC shooters.DaBrainz
This depends on the game. BF3, the competetion is obviously much better on PC. CoD, I really don't see a huge disparity in skill level. You run across lobbies full of turrible players 8-9/10 times on every platform in that game. I actually am best (statistically) on PC for MW3.
Anyways, a great FPS player won't go from dominating on consoles to getting pooped on on PC, so I'm calling BS on being near the top of the LB's on one platform and being "noobish" on the other, unless you are just that terrible with KB/M.

My skill level doesn't change when I change platform, the competition does. Console gamers are easier to kill. Thats a fact jack.[QUOTE="Sali217"]None of it, it's all flawed. Well if not "realism" what are we basing "hardcorism" on? in racing games we talk about physics engines. I guess my answer is people who play FPS with motion controls. I believe zapper light guns were actually first on the scene for a first person shooting perspective.

Thats a fact jack.I don't doubt that your skill level doesn't change, I was basically just calling you a liar (top of the leaderboards on console>noobish on PC, mhmm). I play on both, so I know how much you were exaggerating... the PC does have better competition, but you won't go from a 5 k/d to a .5 k/d player, 10 w/l to 1 w/l or a 800 spm to 200 spm player, etc like some of you try to claim.
